Question:
Hello, Im installing a new Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on my 2008 Volvo XC90 to replace an old hitch, and unfortunately one of the M12x1.75 bolt holes is mangled, and I cannot install the left rear bolt. Im looking for a local mechanic who can take a look, but do you have any experience in repairing this kind of problem? Do you know what the options would be to rethread or perhaps install a through-bolt if rethreading is not an option? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13559 for your 2008 Volvo XC90 may need you to use some spray lube and a tube brush like # 814092 to loosen gunk that may have found its way into your weld nut. If the weld nut threading is too mangled due to crossthreading, you can use a larger thread tap and a larger grade 5 bolt compatible with that new threading for the installation.
