Replace 1 worn or damaged ball-and-socket gas strut from your boat's hatch lid or compartment door. Annealed steel with corrosion-resistant coating is great for saltwater environments. Strut measures 12" long and offers 30 lbs of force.

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Taylor Made Steel Gas Strut for boat hatches. Now this gas strut is going to replace one worn or damaged strut on your boat's hatch. This is going to extend to ease the lifting of your hatch lid and then compress to gently close your hatch without it slamming. If you notice here, this is a ball and socket installation, so it's going to attach the ball studs on the inside of your boat hatch. It's 10 millimeter ball socket that we have here on either end.
And this heat-treated steel construction is gonna be durable, it's gonna be corrosion-resistant, so you're not gonna have to worry about rust, even in salt water areas. And the length here, I'm gonna be measuring from the center of the top socket to the center of the bottom socket. And so, if you see there, we're sitting pretty close to 12 inches, hopefully you can see that. This has a compression force of 30 pounds. And, again, this is direct from Taylor Made, so this is their replacement part.

I'm hoping this does the trick.Had 30 lb on before went to 40 lb on boat hatch.Installed perfect and seems to work better .Different brand but seems exactly the same install.So will see how it works out if it does I will be ordering another.Came fast and in perfect shape.Thank you!

Still working great.Does not seem to be falling like other ones did.Do not know if because I went to a 10 lb over stock or just a better strut.But I will be replacing the other ones with these.

Comparing this to the usual steel gas strut is like day and night. Seems well made, and looks great. More important is my review if etrailer. When my order did not arrive, I sent them email. Shortly, I was notified that it was being tracked. When tracking did not find it, I emailed etrailer again. They expedited delivery of a replacement.

This gas strut for our boat hatch works perfectly. I received this faster than I thought I would and it was very well packaged. I have ordered things before from etrailer and have always had great results and service! I'm sure there will be other things I will need down the road for our boat...after all...you know what BOAT stands for don't you? These worked well for my project. I was putting a concession stand style hatch in the basement wall that separates our play area from the living area. It took some research and a few tries to get them installed at the correct angle. I wanted the hatch to almost, but not quite touch the ceiling.

These struts worked phenomenal. I should have added them to our food trailer years ago. We retrofitted a 1972 Shasta Go Tag Along trailer and used real pine wood for a nice warm look. The side windows we cut into her were made of 2x4, plywood and pine wood. They were extremely heave and difficult to open. The struts were added and now they slowly open with by themselves. They are easy to close and only take one hand. Should have added them years ago!!

2008 Grady White boat needed a new hatch lift. Boat manufacturers are not like automobile manufacturers, and many times the customer is on his own to find older parts. This was a perfect fit for the worn out gas strut. Even thought the force was 10 pounds lighter than the original part, it works fine. I was most pleased as the size and connectors fitted perfectly to effect a quick sure fix.

Worked well to replace cabin door hatch lid strut on a 2005 Hydra Sports 212 WA. Had to move the top mount back about 3/4" to allow the lid to close completely, but when the original part is no longer available, this is the way to go.

I wanted to update the struts on my RV bed. Original ones would not hold the bed up for me to access the storage area underneath. So I wanted to increase the 'Force' rating of the struts. However, I was concerned with 'too much force' on a wooden structure. So, I increased the force by 10 lbs with these new struts. These work really well. Highly recommended.

It fits, it's strong, looks well made so far. My order got messed by Post Office, so etrailer had to resend. They did a good job and I just hope this thing lasts.
