Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Taylor Made gas strut for your boat hatches. This is a nice stainless steel gas strut, so it's going to hold up well in your marine environments. You're not going to have to worry about rust and corrosion as it is highly-resistant to those. It is a rust-proof 316 stainless steel, so it's going to do a good job.

It's going to be a great option to replace a worn out or damaged strut on your boat's hatch. So make sure that your hatch is operational again. It does have the ball sockets here that will attach to the ball stud on the inside of your boat's hatch. This is a 10-millimeter ball socket, so it will do a good job of connecting and making sure that your hatch doesn't slam shut, and it'll also help make it easier to lift your hatch lid. So it just going to overall give you that option to use your boat's hatch again. This does have an overall length of 12 inches, and that is measured from the center of our ball socket to the center of the other ball socket. So right at 12 inches.

When we compress it, it is going to take about 10 pounds of force to compress it completely. So if you are needing a new strut for your boat hatch, I think this is going to be a great option for you. This is just going to come with the one strut. So if you do need multiple for your hatch, keep that in mind. You might have to order multiple pieces, as this is just the one.So that's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com.

Thanks for watching.

  • What Is The Compressed Length of the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut 3691895-10
Hey, Jeff! I went out to our warehouse to check on this for you. There wasn't a way to keep it compressed but I did get the length from the ball socket to the end of the cylinder and it was 8" long. The ball sockets on the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut part # 3691895-10 are 1" in diameter so compressed the length from ball socket to ball socket is going to be 9" in total length. Where are you needing to use the gas strut on?
