Question:
Need some advise on a brake controller for my 2001 Monaco with air brakes, towing a 2022 Bronco Wild Trak. Looking at the Demco Air Force One or the Blue Ox Patriot, any advice and part numbers would be great. Thanks

Hey Glen, thanks for reaching out. Both of the brake systems you mentioned are great choices for your 2022 Bronco and Monaco air brake motorhome. Personally, anytime I see an air brake MH the Demco Air Force One # DM26VR is my go-to brake systems. It ties into the MH air brake system, so you get consistent proportional braking. Also, the unit itself installs under the hood, so once it's all on there its very hidden and you barely know it's there. Setting everything up for towing is really easy too you just hook up and go. It's definitely one of our most reliable, best reviewed braking system.
The Patriot # BLU37TR is a good system, but it’s a portable, in-cab unit, so you’re setting it up and positioning it every time. With your setup, the Air Force One is cleaner, more consistent, and just easier to live with long term.
Do you need any other parts for your flat tow setup? I'm happy to throw together a parts list for you if needed.

Glen, the Demco Air Force One kit is really nice. I am actually finishing up the install myself on my 24 Ram 2500. You'll need the brake wiring kit too, like one from Roadmaster or equivalent to utilize the tow vehicle brake lights and turn signals. You can Google install videos for your chassis and tow vehicle to help guide you.

Another consideration is electric activation vs. air activation. I've used both. If you have an engine braking system, it turns on your MH brake lights when active...which also activates your braking on the toad if you are using an electric braking system. I didn't like that! Air Force One didn't do that. It was awesome.
