Looking for recommendations for flat tow setup - 2024 Dynamax DynaQuest XL has air brakes towing a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab.

Hey Kevin, congrats on the new truck and motorhome. Here is what I recommend for flat towing your 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab with your 2024 Dynamax DynaQuest XL motorhome with air brakes:

- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523198-5

- Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-676

- Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267

- Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle # RM-766

- Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # DM26VR

Keep in mind the battery disconnect is a requirement for flat towing and you will need one disconnect for each starting battery. Aside from that, install will be pretty straightforward. Thank you for the detailed recommendation. Do you think a 10,000lb rated tow bar would be safer or is the 8k absolutely sufficient?

@KevinG Based on what I see online, the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab has a 5,110 lb curb weight and a 7,000 lb gross weight. So 8K will definitely be sufficient. Unless you plan to store a ton of gear in the truck while towing I would stick with 8K. That Nighthawk I recommended is a top quality tow bar. If you still want to go with a 10K you definitely can. For that I recommend part # e84ZR. This does not have the LED lights like the Nighthawk, but aside from that it will be a very solid option.

Jesse, thank you for the detailed recommendation. I contacted an etrailer.com recommended installer near me, and they did not recommend the Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System (DM26VR). They indicated they've had too many negative experiences with that product manufacturer. That said, they recommended the Roadmaster Brakemaster (# 9160) system. What is your experience with the Roadmaster Brakemaster (9160) system, and would you recommend it for use with my Dynamax Dynaquest XL and GMC Sierra 1500? Thanks!

@KevinG The Roadmaster Brakemaster # RM-9160 is also a good supplemental braking system. Ultimately this and the Demco Air Force One will do the same thing. To be the biggest drawback of the BrakeMaster is that you will have the brake cylinder on the driver side floor that you will have to deal with. It will have to be removed, stored, and re-attached every time you want to tow or drive the vehicle. Also, there are going to be additional parts needed in order to use it. For the BrakeMaster to work properly on your vehicle you will also need the following parts: - Roadmaster Brake Pressure Reducer for BrakeMaster Flat Tow Brake System # RM-900002 - RoadMaster BrakeMaster Custom Seat Adapter # RM-88348 - Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751495 I would have to respectfully disagree with your installers take on the Demco brake system. After working with our flat tow installers here and listening to their feedback, the Demco system is our highest reviewed and recommended brake system. It is a one-and-done install and virtually all of the components install out of sight. It is tried and true, and it just works. We carry a ton of Demco parts, and they are known to make a solid product. Ultimately though, you can't go wrong with either brake system. If you do go with the BrakeMaster just make sure you also get the parts I recommended above.

@DuaneG Hello Dwayne. A supplemental braking system is recommended for pretty much any towed vehicle. Ultimately it is up to you. Each state has different laws regarding this, so I suggest you check your local laws and regulation and make sure you are using a legal towing setup.
