Today we're going to take a look at the Curt Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails with the installation kit in a carbide black finish. These base rails will provide a solid mounting point for your 5th wheel hitch. The universal L-shape brackets here will fit nearly any application. They are semi-custom brackets that can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. All the parts are protected by a highly durable carbide powder coat finish. They are inaudible 00:00:24 in a rust resistant liquid bonderite coating. Now, this part is compatible with most 5th wheel hitches, rollers and goose neck adapters by Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley, and Husky.
Complete kit includes everything shown here, the two base rails themselves, the 4 L-shaped universal brackets, all the mounting hardware, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything. 1998 Dodge 1500 4X4 with 6.5ft bed
Set the rails where I needed them and drilled trough the PU bed. Then bolted the frame mounts under the bed to hold in position for marking the holes that needed to be drilled through the frame rails.
Worked very well once I was able to get access to the frame rails by removing the fender flares and the inside plastic fenders. Used step drill to to drill through the frame rails after marking center by means of a large drill bit that fit the hole size needed.
Worked alone and I'm 72 so any younger whippersnapper should be able to accomplish the task.
They work great. Just make sure to measure evenly! I had somebody install them and the rails are a little uneven it makes it a pain to take the hitch off. The overall product is great though. No complaints 1 year later.

It worked great. I went from an older 5th wheel hitch with older rail my new hitch didn't have the correct slots for it to fit in. But with the selection of slots this rail provided it fit perfectly.
Purchased this for my 2012 dodge ram 3500 crew cab standard 6ft bed single rear wheels. My husky fifth wheel hitch fits into it. Quick shipping!
Very easy install in my situation. I have a flat bed so measure, mark, drill, install bolts and nuts and torque. Only recommendation I would give is the brackets should have all been long not two long and two short. I wasn’t able too put 2 bolts in the short brackets.

I reached out to Curt about this just to see what is going on here. They said you actually need part # C99BR, which is a custom bracket kit for your truck.
I use the Universal Rail Kit quite frequently. Although I originally got it to attach a 5th wheel hitch, I don't use one. I have opted to use an Andersen Hitch, which supports more than I'll ever tow. The kits frame mount brackets and riser/leveling blocks worked great. I am very happy with this purchase!
I think the shipper tore the package up and I know that they lost one of the L brackets so I’m having to have one made in order to install the bracket set up
Instructions are for older trucks and should be updated for newer ones, but not to hard to figure out and works well.
Used this kit to mount a fifth wheel hitch in a 2023 Tacoma. Composite bed made this install challenging since the bed carries almost none of the load. It took a couple of weeks to lay out, then had to saw/grind away access points for the mounting hardware. I bolted instead of welding due to the proximity of cabling to where the mounts would need to be placed. But, it has performed as advertised; looking forward to many years of use.
The parts arrived on time; the packaging had been torn apart and when I say TORN it was torn up. The package was put back together with packing tape, they must have used half a roll of tape on this thing. we opened the taped-up cardboard and checked to see if all the parts were there. we were missing one mounting bracket. I called customer service on a Sunday and had the best service I could ask for. This lady was very accommodating, she assured me that it would be taken care of, and it was. I received the bracket a couple days later as promised. I'm sure Etrailer boxed it up for shipping correctly, it was the freight company that handled it.
I am very happy with the service I got from Etrailer, especially the lady I spoke with, I was prepared for the run around. I'll be back!

Product and instructions were great. The packaging wasn’t excellent but everything made it. The finish on the rails was good and so was the hardware. Added this hitch to an 02 Silverado 1500 HD. Hope I didn’t void the warranty by welding on the frame
Awesome product, heavy duty, fit perfect, only complaint is the fish wire broke on my 3 bolt of 8 !!
This product worked well for what I needed and the price I wanted, it is universal so afew extra parts came with it. But I am very satisfied. I installed afew extra bolts just for added Security, it got the job done.
Average. Excellent service at order, even better at problem resolution. Gross failure of common sense in shipping. Numerous reports of box failure/parts missing in prior reviews. Upon ordering I was assured this was fixed. Not! Anyone with half sense and one eye would know a thin, heavy, blade shaped object would tear out of the end of an unreinforced single ply cardboard box. This issue has been referenced repeatedly in "comments" and ignored. As stated, great interaction with order and problem fix people but an unnecessary delay.
Received the heavy box delivered in a speedy manner. Put in truck as illustrated. Smooth installation of rails. Put the hitch mount on the rails but no pins to lock it to the rails. Buying the rail and hardware kit, I expected the kit to have included the 4 pins. Somewhat disappointed. I wanted to install and get on the road.

It is common for manufacturers to include 5th wheel rail pin and clips with the 5th wheel trailer hitch. If your hitch doesnt have the pin and clips anymore, they are available separately with part # C16902.

This is a quality product as are most of Curt's products. Installed easily if you have mechanical ability. Welded on left rear support to frame so that I didn't need to remove exhaust system on my 2006 Mega cab Dodge Ram pickup. I've pulled my 31 ft. fifth wheel all over the place including dirt roads in mountain country with no problems. I highly recommend this hitch mount.
Would of been 5 stars but had to do some custom modification to it on my 07.5 2500 dodge ram. As there is a set bolt on the frame so a small chunk of bracket had to be cut out for me to install it.

Still holding up and working
The first delivery of my order, arrived open and missing parts due to shipping. I call in the same day, they took the time to listen and followed up with reshipping my order. I was very please with the service. The curt universal fifth wheel base rails was easy to installed. And at an affordable cost. I am very pleased with the product and service. I strongly encourage you to try this company. I will definitely be using this company again.
I ordered this kit to install on my truck. It was shipped really fast got it within a couple of days. However All I got was the rails. Called told them I did not get any hardware at all. The sent the hardware out within 2 weeks seems to take longer to send out parts they forgot a lot longer. Again I never received all of the mounting brackets. Called again they said it would be another week or so to get the brackets. I’m waiting for my refund. I’m not happy with customer service at etrailer will not order from them again.
This is how I found my package when I got home on my front deck. I am not even sure if I have everything not very happy with it.
Great people to work with. My package arrived damaged and taped up (damaged in shipping. Not shippers fault). When I opened the box, one of the longer brackets was missing. etrailer had contacted me for feedback on my order. I replied that the box had been damaged in shipping and the long bracket was missing. I also sent pictures of the damaged box with my reply. The company quickly replied to make sure nothing else was missing and sent the missing bracket. I'm sure the missing bracket is floating around in a UPS truck somewhere. I would do business with this company again without hesitation.
I could not use the mounting kit
etrailer customer service was great giving me detailed specs on this kit. I was dealing with a used truck that had rails previously installed but had been removed, this kit was almost a exact fit, I did have too enlarge some of the frame holes because they almost lined up, used grade 8 bolts to finish the install. Great product and great service.

The rails were removed because I ordered a new kit for my F550 Ford Flatbed instead. That kits works really well for my 45ft wedge car hauler but the rails are too far forward to be able to use it for a regular sized 5th wheel trailer. So Im going to install one of the rails from the Dodge PU behind the rails on the flatbed so I have the option of 2 positions, forward for gooseneck and aft for 5th wheel hitches. That will work great for dual purpose towing.
