  • Mounting Suggestion For E-track To Aluminum Utility Trailer
For your Aluma 6810 HBT trailer, I recommend the Erickson Horizontal E-Track - Zinc Coated Steel - 2,000 lbs - 5' Long - Qty 1 # E19148 along with the E-Track Backing Plate - Zinc Plated Steel - 6" Long x 6" Wide # e96RR. This will save you the expense of the dual track and will allow you the flexibility of plates between the braces or around them. This track also comes in 4 foot # EM19147, and 2 foot # EM59150. I recommend using the E-Track Plastic End Cap # ET8730 to finish your tracks. For...

  • Tips for Installing E-Track on a Trailer with Tube Aluminum Frame
On an 4 foot long section of E-track # EM19147 and 2 screws every 16 inches that is a total of 6 screws in the aluminum frame. This most likely will not get you near the capacity of the E-track. I recommend bolting through the aluminum frame so that the fasteners are anchored. This is harder to do since you need access to both sides of the vertical supports of the frame. Another option is to use several backing plates, # e96RR, which will disperse the weight over a larger area. So if...

  • How to Secure a 2018 Harley Davidson Tri Glide to a Trailer
In order to secure your 2018 Harley Davidson Tri Glide I recommend using the Tow-Rax Wheel Chock part # TWSPWM for the front wheel so long as it is not greater than 6-1/2" wide. Then in order to secure the two rear wheels I recommend using an e-track system which is composed of the Erickson Horizontal E-Track part # EM19147 and the Erickson Adjustable Wheel Net with E-Track Fittings part # 77314. You can also add the Erickson E-Chock Wheel Chocks part # EM09162-2 for even more security...

  • Can E-Track be Installed in Car Hauler for Multiple Car Widths
You can install the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # E19148 in any manner you like, so for a car hauler that has cars of different widths you can place E-track side-by-side, as you can see one of our customers did in the accompanying photo. This E-track is only 5-1/8" wide so you can install numerous different tracks to meet as many widths as possible. For additional support I do recommend using the E-Track Backing Plate # BPEZ during your install. This would be the best option and then you...

  • Best Tie Down Method for Transporting Luxury Vehicles
The best way to secure you Ferrari F430 to a trailer will involve an E-Track system. For this you are going to want a few items. First you will want a set of tracks like the Erickson Horizontal E-Track part # EM19147. You will want four of them, one under each wheel. You will then want to use a set of tie-downs compatible with these tracks and for that the Erickson E-Track Wheel Tie-Down Strap with Roller Idler and Ratchet part # EM58523 will be your best option. • Recommendations for Attaching E-Track to Floor of Aluminum Trailer
I'd recommend through bolting the e-track into the available cross members under the trailer floor. You'll want to fasten the e-track to the floor in between those points, but the fasteners you'd use and how many of them will depend on the structure of the floor. If you're talking a wood plank floor, you have plenty of floor structure for the fasteners to bite into, so attaching the track every foot or so would be fine. If the floor is thinner metal, you'll want to use self tapping screws...

  • Mounting Erickson E-Tracks to 3/8 Inch Plywood or Vinyl Covered Walls
To mount Erickson E-Tracks like the 4 Foot Long # EM19147 that you are looking at you will want to use 1/4 inch diameter screws/bolts. The length is entirely dependent on the application but for 3/8 inch plywood I really recommend first securing the plywood to the trailer frame in as many points a possible (if not already done so). You can also remove plywood from the areas you plan on installing the E-Track and reinforce the back of the plywood with a mounting plate like # e96RR. You...

  • Can E-Track be Mounted Perpendicular to UTV
That's a good question and we have had a number of people wanting to do the same thing, but e-track does need to be mounted parallel to your UTV, in the direction of travel. Wheel straps pulling to the side, opposite the direction of travel, can put undue stress on the straps with what is essentially a moving load. So what you will want is horizontal e-track with wheel straps: - Erickson Horizontal E-Track - 4 Feet # EM19147 or 5 Feet # E19148 - Erickson E-Track Wheel Tie-Down Strap...

  • Best E-track Coating For Corrosion Resistance On Open Car Hauler Trailer
I have found the galvanized coating on the etrailer Horizontal E-Track # e95VR will hold up to rust and corrosion better than the zinc coated Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM19147 that you were looking at. The galvanizing process leaves a thicker coating as compared to zinc coatings. This will allow for it not to wear off as quickly. I recommend using the Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM58523-09162-4 for securing your vehicles when using the E-Track. This kit will give you 2 wheel...

  • Can E-Track be Driven Over and be Used to Secure Vehicle Tire To
E-track can be driven over and it will be fine. It would not collapse or otherwise damage itself. You could use and drive over the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM19147. Then for a wheel strap the Erickson E-Track Wheel Tie-Down Strap with Roller Idler and Ratchet # EM58523 would work well. I attached a picture of a wheel and tire secured to this track for more info as well.

  • Spacing the Tracks When Installing E-Track to Metal Floor of Car Hauler
If you are planning on using an E-track wheel strap like the part # EM58523 (which would be your best and easiest option for securing the vehicle), you would want to space the E-track sections the exact same width as the tires on your vehicle. Right down the middle like in the picture I attached would be ideal. The ratings for the tracks is the amount of weight they can secure. So part # EM19147 can secure up to 6,000 lbs.

If you need 18 feet of E-track I recommend using 2 pieces of 8 feet Horizontal E-track part # E19135 and 1 piece of 2 feet E-Track part # EM59150. 8 feet is the longest Horizontal E-Track available. The E-track pieces are not designed to be mounted properly while overlapped with one another. The 1,500 pound working load limit (WLL) for the Erickson ATV E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 referenced in your question does refer to the combined capacity of both straps and chocks. Since your Polaris Ranger weighs close to 2,000 pounds, I do recommend using two of these sets to secure all four of its wheels to the trailer. The mounting holes on the E-Track such as # E19147 are 1/4 inch in diameter. The type and length fastener you should use will depend on the surface material and thickness you are attaching it to. Securing the Erickson E-Track # E19148 to 3/4 inch plywood should be sufficient. To secure the track to the plywood, you can use screws, or rivets. Using 1/2 inch screws would be a good length with 3/4 inch plywood. You will want to attach screws at least every other mounting hole. For tie downs and straps I would recommend either the E-Track Tie-Off Ring # 59131, or E-Track 2 inch D-Ring, part # E59143. Also available is the Erickson E-Track Strap with Ratchet, part # EM59136.

  • Is Strength of E-Tracks Based on Direction They Support Weight
The E-tracks were designed to give quite a bit of flexibility in how they can support weight. But in general forward to back would be a bit stronger just based on how the mounting holes line up and the leverage they would have over the cargo. If the angles aren't severe there wouldn't be a noticeable difference. On a two inch wood floor wood screws would be just fine. I would go with at least every other hole used on the tracks for max strength.
