Installation of Tekonsha T-One Connector

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located at the rear of your vehicle. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the body harness up to your car battery and connect the wires per the included instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a 2-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's 3-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Installation of Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter

This adapter plugs into the 4-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located near the steering column, through a grommet in the engine compartment.

This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL

With the video, this has been super easy to install.
That being said, there were two small (but annoying) hiccups.

1. The self tapping screw was smaller then the hole on the ground wire, so I had to fasten it through the metal rather than the hole. Easy for me, but some folks would have been stumped. That doesn't reflect well when you order the "complete" wiring package.

2. The ground pin on the 7 way plug wasn't glued in properly, so it kept getting pushed in when I tried to plug it in. I managed to get it clicked in properly (I think). We'll see when I test my brakes tonight!

I’m one year in and haven’t had any issues with it. It works great. I can’t remember how good the installation instructions were but I got it figured out so it couldn’t have been that bad.

by:

Good product install takes some time and I had to get a little creative on some mounting as well as the ground bolt

great harness, worked well

  • What is Purpose of Blue Wire from 7-Way Kit # TK24FR
The 16 gauge wire of the 7-way kit # TK24FR gets ran through the headliner of the vehicle to the reverse light circuit of the vehicle at the rear of the vehicle. If you don't need the reverse light circuit active on your 7-way you can skip this step.

  • How To Install A Brake Controller And Trailer Wiring Harness In A 2017 Kia Sorento
If you're trying to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 that you were looking at you'll need a couple other things installed first. The first one being trailer wiring, if you don't have a 7-way on the rear of your Sorento then I recommend the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter - 7 Way Trailer Connector # TK24FR. This kit is going to have everything you need for a 7-way. This wiring kit will have connectors to plug into...

Yes, your 2019 Kia Sedona without the factory tow package is still compatible with the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with Brake Controller Adapter # TK24FR. According to the manufacturer, Tekonsha, this is compatible with all models of Kia Sedona and will plug into the tow package port which will be on your vehicle. This is compatible with the Tekonsha brake controllers, and for that I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 as it is recognized...

I do have an option for you but there isn't a plug and play seven way trailer connector option for a 2021 Kia Sorento without the factory tow package therefore no, the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7 Way Trailer Connector part # TK24FR will not work. Instead, you'll need to use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # TK26FR with an adapter such as the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. This plugs into the brake controller wiring your vehicle has under the dash as well which means you'd be able to easily install a brake controller as well with it. If the 4-way kit you installed tied into the factory trailer wiring of the 2017 Kia Sorento then yes the 7-way kit part # TK24FR that you referenced would work as an easy upgrade to also install a brake controller. If the 4-way installed using the vehicle taillight connectors instead like with the part # 118583 then instead you'd have to use the # ETBC7 kit to convert it to a 7-way and wire in a brake controller.

It sounds like you're looking for a solution to provide both a 4 way and 7 way trailer connector on the back of a 2021 Kia Sedona, and we've got exactly what you'll need. I'll start out by saying that the Tekonsha # TK24FR you were looking at only has a 7 way plug, so it's not going to be the correct part for this application. Since this only has a 7-way connection, you would also need an adapter for your scout trailer. The Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter # PK12716 plugs into the 7-way at the back of your vehicle converting it to a 4-way which would let you connect your other trailer.
