Features to know about

Installs Cleanly Without Cutting: Plug-In T-Connector Design

Wiring a trailer doesn’t have to mean cutting into factory wires. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector plugs directly into the existing tail light wiring. It’s a hidden, plug-and-lead style setup that keeps the install clean and avoids splicing or taping connections. Once in place, the harness provides a standard 4-flat connection ready for your trailer lights.

Draws Power Safely: Powered Converter with 12-Gauge Feed Wire

Many factory tail light circuits can’t handle extra trailer load, so this harness includes a powered converter that draws 12-volt power straight from the battery through an included 12-gauge wire. That design protects the vehicle’s wiring while giving the trailer full brightness for running, turn, and brake lights. A fuse is added in line for protection and reliable operation.

Handles Trailer Lighting Loads Reliably: Rated Output for Stop, Turn, and Tail Circuits

The converter is built to manage typical trailer lighting draw—3 amps per stop/turn circuit and 6 amps per tail light circuit. That’s plenty of power for standard trailers, and it supports either incandescent or LED lights without damaging sensitive electronics. It’s a dependable way to power every light on your trailer without overloading your vehicle circuits.

Ready for Everyday Use: Standard 4-Flat Connector Output

Once installed, the 4-pole flat trailer connector gives you all the basics—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—right where you need them at the hitch. It’s a simple, weather-resistant connection that works with common trailers and adapters when you need to tow different setups.

The clips snap on the lights very easy. Running the wire to battery was somewhat challenging but I kept it in the frame rail and inside the splash guards. Was able to mount module in a dry area underneath driver side rear light.

Amazingly easy to install. Hardest part was running the wire to the battery. Everything else was simple plug in. Also, extremely fast shipping and courtesy follow through via emails from customer service representative! Thank you!
Didn't take pictures during install so only finished plug next to my hitch!

Great. Went on a five month trip up the California-Oregon coast. No problems with wiring ??

I first looked at etrailer because of the price but I chose to purchase from etrailer because of the helpful "how to" videos. Wiring harness seemed too difficult until I watched the video. Mounting the hitch and installing the wiring was as easy as can be. Product seems to be quality made, very solid and welds look good. The paint finish even still looks good after a year. I work for a truck parts supply company and I have been recommending etrailer to all of my customers, co-workers and friends & family since my purchase.
by:
As advertised. Harness only took about 45 minutes to install but the power line was another story. Exhaust lines, drive shafts, steering column, etc., caused the power line to take about 2 hours to route and secure with wire ties. Works great though.

The connections fit perfectly. The instructions were clear. I was uncertain which side connected to my vehicle's lights. The instructions helped a lot.

2012 Jeep Liberty
I haven't used it yet, but the connector tested out fine. I wish the kit included the air tubing they used in the instructional video, or something to fish the wire through the framing. I spent a few hours looking for and trouble shooting something that would do the trick. After picking up electrical fish tape from a local hardware store, the dang thing still wouldn't go all the way through like the video. I wonder if my 2012 Liberty is structured differently than the 2008 in the video. I gave up on trying to run the hot wire like the video, and just routed it under the Jeep as best as I could. Hooking up everything else really was pretty simple. When testing the connector with a test light (I don't own a trailer), make sure your trucks' lights are ON to test the first terminal and then blinkers for the other two. Don't be like me and think that your connections are bad and spend a while testing everything when all you have to do is turn your lights and blinkers on (being in a hurry didn't help this stupid mistake). Other than running the wire under the car, this kit is easy to install.

This is the second one I purchased as the first one stopped working after about three years. Installation is easy and it works as advertised. I just hope the second one lasts longer than three years. I tested the wiring and all tested ok, so I believe it was something within the circuit board on the first one. I trailered a 19' boat, log splitter, and a large trailer with tractor during the period using a Jeep Liberty.

the problem is that the sidemarker lights on the tail light stays light even when the vehicle is turned off . my brake lights don't even go on when the vehicle is turned off ...so I have to make sure I unplug the trailer even when its still on the hitch .. . the connectors are good, the minimal wires are good to stuff behind the vehicle tail light... not to bulky

  • What Size Bolts Are Used To Install The etrailer Receiver on a 2009 Jeep Liberty?
The hardware with our etrailer Receiver # e85AR for your 2009 Jeep Liberty is M12-1.75 thread. We do include this size in our Metric Tap Kit # PT22FR if you do not already have it. A Brush # 814092 will also help you clean out the threads with some cleaner solvent. I recommend installing the 4-Way # C56334 in the event you need to connect to the lights on a small trailer or add Auxiliary Lights # C53201 to a hitch mounted accessory.

Hey Charles, You'll want to pick up a circuit tester # PTW2993 or multimeter # PT89ZR and check the 4-pole trailer connector on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56334 and see if any of your light signals are coming through. If not, you'll want to then check the wire harness's ground and power wires. On the power wire you'll need to check the fuse holder to see if it's blown. The Curt 55027 has not been available for quite some time. The last one we sold was in 2015. I see that you were searching for parts for a 2012 Jeep Liberty. I can offer you the Curt wiring harness # C56334. This is extremely similar to the 55027 you mentioned. The main difference is that the new harness requires you to run a hot lead to the battery, while the 55027 did not. It looks like all of the wiring harnesses I have for the 2102 Liberty will require you to run a hot lead for 12v....

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56334 if left installed on a vehicle like your 2012 Jeep Liberty should not be draining the battery. If the 4-way connector isn't powering anything there wouldn't be any draw on the battery. That being said, if a vehicle isn't driven for a few weeks there is good chance the battery will be drained. Especially in cold weather. You might just need to put your vehicle battery on a maintenance charger like the part # CTEK56353 when you are going...
