Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Great Product. Installed easily in my Mazda CX-5. It took very little time to install, and did not require any modifications to wires. You just plug it in, attach the ground wire, and it works, It is that simple. This is a great product and worth every penny.

This harness made it super easy to add trailer wiring to my CX-5. Watching the video helped a lot. Along with a Curt Auxiliary lighting kit I was able to make a light bar for my Hollywood bike rack.

After watching the video, the install was quick and easy.
I only deviated from the install video, where it concerns the ground wire.
It says to use a drill and make a 3/32 hole and use the self tapping screw, if you can not find an existing place to mount the ground wire.
On the CX-5 there is a perfectly placed nut that can be used, and you dont even need any extra tools above what the kit calls for.
When you pull off the plugs for the drivers side tail lights, you will also see 3 10mm nuts that hold the tail light in place.
Just remove the one below the brake light, and slip the ground wire over it and replace the nut.

Plug and play no cutting or soldering works with no issues.
Ordered harness 3 separate times. Had sent first one back it was incorrect for vehicle. Recieved 2nd one, took vehicle apart to find out 2nd harness incorrect as well. Had to pay shipping costs to return without getting correct part. Cost $[XX] for dealing with etrailer and no part. GGGGRRRRR!!!

This wiring harness is still going strong after a year. I have been very pleased with the purchase.
works great. I just need to take the time to figure out a way to wire it out of the trunk so I don't have to close the hatch on it.

Install was fairly straight forward and it has been working flawlessly for over a year now.
The hitch was great and went on without a problem. Wiring also worked great. Done! I bought from you because of your videos and they made installation so much easier. I am a do it yourselfer but at 73 was thankful for all you information and help via the videos. Would recommend your site to anyone in need of a hitch.
I installed this on my 2015 Honda Accord for the purpose of pulling my small aluminum fishing boat and trailer. Works great!
Super easy to install. Took me about 20 minutes, but everything works.
Directions were clear and the install was smooth. Working well a year later!
Item was plug and play as advertised. Paper instructions included are marginal. Site provided video was very helpful.
This is my second installation using etrailer; they've been good to deal with each time.

Havent towed anything yet, but the cargo basket is very handy for transporting heavy, dirty matls

It was 97% plug & play. I had to drill a hole for the ground, and sand off the paint. Getting the trim push rivets loose was the most effort required.
