Would A Wiring Harness Like Curt C56011 Cause The Vehicles Battery To Drain?

Updated 10/31/2025 | Published 10/11/2025

Question:

We installed a C56011 on a 2013 Honda Fit Sport about four weeks ago. Today we replaced the battery because it wasnt holding a charge like should most likely because it needed replacement. However, is there a chance the wiring harness is causing a parasitic battery drain?

Hello Christopher, thanks for reaching out, and good question. This is likely just your battery being shot and needing to be replaced. A wiring harness like the Curt # C56011 is not going to drain the battery like that. Unless there was something plugged into the 4-flat that was drawing power. Or if the power wire was shorted and touching bare metal it could cause a parasitic drain but under normal conditions you would not have to worry about the converter draining the battery. The power draw for the converter box in minimal.

Hey Christopher, did the new battery solve the issue with your Honda Fit’s charge? Your update could make it easier for others wondering about battery drain after adding the Curt wiring harness.

@JesseM We replaced the battery and haven’t had a problem since so it must have been the battery. Thank you for your help.
