Question:
I saw the response to the question about a bike carrier for a Honda Fit. My question: Will a Curt class I hitch installed on my 2015 Honda Accord EX-L cause a warranty issue? I use it to tow a small aluminum Trailex Sport Utility trailer, model SUT-200-S, which weighs 120 pounds. Boat, including oars and sliding seat rowing rig, weighs 150 pounds. Combined weight of trailer and load is, therefore, 270 pounds. Estimated tongue weight is about 40 pounds. Thank you.

Helpful Expert Reply:
Per manufacturer's guidelines, the towing capacity of your 2015 Honda Accord EX-L with one passenger in the vehicle is rated at 1,000 lbs. whereas the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch is rated for a maximum 2,000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 200 lbs. of tongue weight (TW). Therefore you must abide by the lower of the two, being the car. As these capacities are well in-line with the trailer you plan to be hauling, there will be no warranty issues with this setup.
I have attached an installation video for your review.

The instructions mention connecting the POSITIVE cable to the battery, but the step by step instructions neglect this step. Is the necessity for this connection eliminated by the custom wiring harness?

I just purchased a 2017 Accord Hybrid. I need a hitch for my bicycle rack, and occasionally to tow a small utility trailer. Is this car rated for that "1000lb" ?
