Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors

Today we're going to be taking a look at the 12-foot long Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors, part number MPG307-12. These also come in nine-feet long, 15-feet long as well as 18-feet long. The Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors are great for tying down your kayaks, your canoes, or your stand up paddleboards on your Malone Water Sport Carriers. The rubber portion here underneath our buckle has a neoprene sleeve around it, and this is going to ensure that your kayak, your canoe, or your stand up paddleboard won't get scratched once this is being installed. These are UV resistant straps with cross-box stitching at the end for a sturdy hold. The buckles themselves are galvanized and corrosion resistant and have a no-slip center spring-tension device to make sure your strap stays tight. It has a pull strength of 1,200 pounds.

This will come in a quantity of two straps. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the strap, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. Once you open the package, these are the two straps that you'll get. Now we'll move on to our kayak carrier, install the straps and stow our kayak, cinch them down and we'll be ready to go. Putting our buckle end through first so making sure they sit inaudible 00:01:15 here on this particular kayak carrier. And we'll repeat that for our front mount. And now we can install our kayak.

So, we'll take our straps, bring them around the front of our kayak, making sure our buckles are about half-way up there. We'll do this for the front as well. How this particular kayak loads up, we'll bring our strap underneath and up. We'll come to our buckle here, and we'll pull our cover back just a little bit for a little bit better view here. You can see it has a point to thread our open-end strap through.

Push that through first. We'll feed it through our buckle, bring that down and around. We'll pull the strap nice and tight, pulling our protective cover back around it. Then tying off our excess. Now we're ready to attach our inaudible 00:02:22 tie-downs if we have them, and we're ready to hit the road. And there you have it for the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors..

The Malone cam straps do a great job, also the buckle protectors keep them from damaging my kayak. 2 thumbs up
by:
The webbing is tough to get through the cam buckle. There is a weird plastic piece that you either have to thread the needle on and force the webbing through or bend it out of your way. They just don't function great.
by:
Great rails, easy to install, and great service from etrailer!

I went with the longer 71” rails and glad I did, they look great and give me the ability to haul 2 16” Buffalo Canoes!

Order shipped fast and was what I wanted. Always satisfied when dealing with Etrailer.
by:
Nice! Easy op. that doesn't scratch the vehicle.
by:
Arrived ahead of schedule, excellent product and very competetive pricing. Highly recommend.

Just opened the box this afternoon. The straps seem well built and handled a brief test drive very well while strapping down an inflatable pontoon boat, even at freeway speeds. I've never used this sort of strap before at took a guess at the right length, the 12' straps I bought, while adequate, would offer more tie down options and more security at 15'.

No issues at all after a year of use.

by:
shipped quickly, everything great as usual. The straps hold my kayaks on the trailer without leaving a mark.
by:
As soon as I tighten down on the straps and put the covers over they came apart. The sewing of the cover is one piece of thread. Useless
by:
Just what I needed to tie down my yak in my truck. Bought a couple of bargain straps from an on-line giant that were trash. When you pulled them tight their teeth would get tangled in the strapping. Had to cut my kayak free. Waste of money. These are a bit of a challenge to get the straps through the protective buckle covering. Hence the 4 stars.

As year later, still holding up well. Value gets better day by day.

by:
These are the perfect size for a kayak on a roof rack with saddles. They don't stay super tight but I can't tell if that is normal or due to minor shifting of the kayak. I like them though.
by:
Easy to use. They secure my kayaks well and sure beat the heck out of ratchet straps which always give me problems.

Working well, fully functional and easy to use.

These are sturdy, reliable straps. We use two of them to tie a canoe to the roof crossbars on our Subaru Outback. It's great to have padding on the buckles in order to protect the canoe and the car. It does take a bit of hand strength to slide or hold the pads out of the way when threading the strap through buckle. I searched the web quire bit to find suitable cam straps, and etrailer's selection of strap styles and lengths is very good.
by:
Better than the Thule straps that came with my roof rack. Easy on and easy off. Very secure hold over long trips through 4 states. Very important tool for peace of mind in toting three kayaks hither and yon.
by:
The product was just what I ordered. I'm expanding my kayak trailer to hold up to 4, so I ordered wider cross bars and another carrier. A little frustrating to find it was not really in stock, however, communication from the etrailer team was outstanding.
by:
I did a lot of reading about cam lashing straps before I ordered from Etrailer and this is the best ,a great strap at a great price. Look carefully before you buy a strap to make sure it will hold up, losing a boat or any load will be way more then you save on a cheap strap made from the wrong material.
by:
Perfect for our kayaks, strong and appreciate the buckle protectors. These straps are difficult to find in stores. Competitive price and quick delivery. I would recommend etrailer to anyone.
by:
This was one of the few places who had these hard to find straps in stock. They are replacing my old ones so I know their quality. Once I placed the order I received a very nice, personal email from George who recommended a similar item that was on sale and would arrive quicker. Throughout the order I received updates from them about the status/delivery of my order. Such efficient and personal service. I will for sure order from them again as well as recommend to my friends.

  • How to Use Rhino-Rack T-Load System to Transport Kayak on 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500
The Rhino-Rack T-Load Hitch Mounted Load Assist and Support Bar # RTL002 that you referenced is designed to be used with an existing roof rack crossbar system or bare roof carrier, which aren't included with the kit. If you want to go with a more permanent setup to use with the T-Load the best route is with a crossbar system. If your Silverado has the Crew Cab I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System that consists of # RRVA150S-2 for the two 59" Vortex Crossbars in Silver or...

  • Kayak Carrier Recommendation For 2 Hobie Mirage Passport 12 Kayaks With a 2022 Kia Telluride
I recommend using a trailer due to the weight of your Hobie Passport 12 Kayaks. Each Kayak weighing 83lbs will overload the maximum roof rack capacity of 165lbs on your 2022 Kia Telluride. The trailer will also make it much easier for loading as it uses bunks rather than a complicated rack mount and the lower height makes it much safer to load and unload the Kayaks. The Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps # MPG307-15 will help to prevent you from over tightening down the kayaks and risking...

  • Can Thule Hull-a-port and Malone Carrier with Load Assist be Used on 2019 Subaru Outback
The Thule Hull-A-Port XT TH848 should fit perfectly with the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist # MPG114MD-351XL on your 2019 Subaru Outback with the stowable rack system. While I was not able to find the exact length of your crossbars, the Hull-a-Port takes up 20 inches and the DownLoader takes up 17 inches so you can check the length of your bars to be certain but I'm confident they are plenty long enough to fit both carriers. In regards to fit, the DownLoader is...

  • Best Value Roof Rack and Surfboard Carrier for 2020 Toyota 4Runner with Factory Raised Rails
The best option for a cost effective roof rack for your 2020 Toyota 4Runner is the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG215. This complete roof rack comes with the two aluminum aero crossbars, four towers, installation tool and it even comes with locks and keys as well. I actually had the chance to install this roof rack and it only took me about 15 to 20 minutes to unbox, slide the towers on the bars, position them on the rails and tighten them down. You can't beat the value and functionality...

  • What Load Assist Can I Use to Load a 120lb Inflatable Fishing Boat onto a Roof Rack?
Hi Brian, I had to get creative to figure out to load a fishing boat up onto crossbars, but I think I have solution! We have something called the Malone Channel Loader Kayak Load Assist part # MAL48FR that is essentially two suction cups connected to a bar with a V-shaped roller in the middle. The suction cups can be attached to the glass on the vehicles rear wind shield or the painted metal and you can lean the boat up against it to help roll it up onto the crossbars. Side note, these...
