  I have a tailgate assist that is a fit for your 1995 Chevy Silverado, but the DeeZee part # DZ43100 is not a confirmed fit. Instead you would want the part # 74211 which is a confirmed fit for your truck and actually would be a better option. It makes the tailgate feel much lighter whereas the DeeZee only slows it down as you are lowering it.

  With the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System for Classic Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra # DZ43100 being custom fit for certain YMM vehicles, I'd actually recommend using a standard gas strut # 372-2300-150 instead. This shock has a compression force of 150 lbs, an extended length of 20", and a compressed length of 11.41". This strut uses a standard 10mm ball socket to connect, so if you don't have any the Gas Shock Mounting Brackets # 372BR-12553 is what you'll need.

  I have a tailgate lift solution I can provide for both of your trucks, but the part # DZ43100 that you referenced is not listed as a fit for either truck. Instead you would want the part # 74211 as it has been confirmed as a fit the 1998 truck and would work great for making your tailgate feel MUCH lighter. Nothing we offer will fit the 1988 because it has a step side.

• Can a Tailgate EasyLift # 74211 and a Tailgate Assist # DZ43100 Be Installed at the Same Time
  You would want to use one or the other. You would not want to install both the # DZ43100 and the # 74211 on the same tailgate. The lowering assist # DZ43100 is designed for the full weight of a full size tailgate, so if you had a # 74211 installed on the tailgate as well you would have to pull down on the tailgate as it would not have enough weight to overcome the shock assembly of the # DZ43100. If I were you I would go with the # 74211 since it will make lowering and raising easier.

  You could certainly install two of the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering Systems # DZ43100 on your 2006 Chevy Silverado, but since there hasn't been any testing with two of these systems installed at the same time we can't guarantee that the tailgate would lower at the rate you want.
