We do indeed have a tailgate assist for you, the Hopkins # 74211. The assist is a torsion spring that will reduce the weight of a 30-40 lb tailgate to 4-7 lbs. Once it's installed on your Sierra, your wife should have a much easier time closing the tailgate.
