The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit sits far back on the frame, leaving the brackets virtually invisible once the removable drawbars are out. The partially hidden design keeps the front grille clean and protects the attachment points from scrapes and scuffs when you’re not towing.
Getting ready to tow is quick and straightforward with the twist-lock system. Each arm slides into the bracket, clicks securely in place, and is released by pulling the built-in ring to twist and remove. The pull-ring release means no fighting with pins or clips after a long drive, and you can attach or remove both arms in seconds without tools.
This kit uses computer-cut, all-steel parts for precise alignment and strength under load. The black powder coat finish resists corrosion for consistent performance through thousands of miles of towing. The brackets fit was good, quality was good. The installation instructions need to be updated for the 2020 Colorado. There were some unnecessary steps.

We have been RVing since 1986. When we started towing a car we have used only Roadmaster Tow Bars and baseplates.
I've installed the baseplate yet but a layout of the items in front of my truck appeared they will fit well. However, one of the ring handles for the spring loaded pins was bent from shipping.
Bought the base plate for my new 2016 GMC Canyon. Installed it myself, went real well.

This was my 4th install of a RM base plate. Armed with several variants of written and video instructions we carefully started disassembling a new truck... Like the others base plates, everything fit. I have a 2018 GMC Canyon Denali 4x4 and the instructions were for a Chevy Colorado/Canyon/ZR2 and were off a bit. The GMC Denali install seems to be closer to the Chevy ZR2. In a few cases the trim fasteners and locations differed but all in all, reasonably similiar.
Some differences: I did not have to remove the air dam. The fascia was notched at the bottom.
Criticism: The width of vertical receiver plate introduced a gap between the 45 degree bumper core end brace and the truck frame. I might weld or bolt a shim to compensate.
The bolt on tow brackets bolted up purfectly, followed the instructions that came with them & watched an online video, was a little time consuming but that varies by vehicle

Yup must have done it right,after a year of towing my chevy colorado around on Alaska roads,highways, dirt roads and potholes without any problems, it must be a good product
I haven't installed these parts yet but past experience with etrailer has been exceptional. Great customer service and help when needed. I have viewed the videos associated with installation of these parts and am confident they will install with ease.

It would have been extremely difficult to install the base plate and associated parts without the aid of the installation video. It was a lifesaver. The procedure was detailed perfectly and the parts went into place effortlessly and fit like a glove!
The units went on my Chevy truck great and they work well the only problem is I can't take off my tow bar unless I unbolt it from the base plates so I have to leave the unit on all the time. It would take 4 bolts to remove . Then I could unlock the base plates and turn them in order to remove them.

The base plates they are working fine I dont remove them they stay on all the time it has been 2 years now the tow bar that I use is bolted on so I would have to remove them to get the s out I should do this some time so they dont rust in place but real nice right now .
The base plates were easy to install (great step by step installation instructions)- it is an easy configuration for towing the vehicle. The attaching plates are well hidden from view when not in towing configuration- It is so simple to install the attaching hardware to the base plates sand fool proof -you will know you have the attaching plates properly installed every you use them-

due to the current pandemic- we have not use the product as we intended-we have use it for several miles for towing our truck- so far it shows to hold its torque and stability-little bet of rust between base plates and engagement parts- i an happy with the hardware as it was recommended by your staff- Installation instructions were impeccable- reminded me of assembly instructions for critical hardware- i am happy with its performance so far
