Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at these universal roof rack adapter kit for the Malone Telos XL load assist. Now, this multi-rack adapter will fasten to your vehicle's crossbars. Provides an attachment for installing the Telos XL lift assist. And if you're not familiar with that Telos, that's, here's an insert there that will show you.
That's a system that goes on the side of your vehicle, allows you to assist your, putting your kayak up on top of your rooftop carrier. And these adapters will solve the issue of keeping your existing rooftop carrier, while utilizing the Telos or Telos XL for ease of loading and unloading of your kayak from the side of your vehicle. This one is designed to work with the part number MPG351XL, which we do sell separately on our website. Now, this adapter will attach to your rooftop carrier and allows the Malone Telos or Telos XL lift assist to be mounted to it right over here, clips into this little opening right here. And this will attach to round, square, and most oval factory and aftermarket crossbars.
Does require about three inches of crossbar space for installation. And the maximum crossbar size that this will fit on is three, or 3 3/4 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. You can see when this is installed, it is a low profile for garage and low clearance areas. It is very lightweight and compact for convenient storage in your trunk or cargo area. And as you can see, I've attached it already, but it does include the mounting bolts, mounting hardware to install it.
And even comes with some installation instructions. Load capacity on these adapters are 75 pounds. The dimension, it's gonna be 10 inches long by 5 1/2 inches wide by about four inches tall. We bought the Telos XL Load Assist and Unversal roof rack adapter to use with a different brand kayak cradle. Together they are a game changer for two not so young women! We're great paddlers but lifting a 60 lb kayak to the roof of my Audi A4 wasn't a pretty sight. The load assist is wonderful. I'm not sure one of us could do it alone, but close, My only problem was that the adapter kit isn't quite universal: the plate and bolts that secure it to the Audi roof rack aren't quite long enough. We had to go to the hardware store for some longer ones--not a huge problme but it wouldn't be hard to solve. If I could give these a 4.5 I would

I tested out the adaptor kit as soon as it arrived and was able to attach it to my Thule roof rack with a little bit of improvisation. If the connecting bolts had been about 1/2” longer, it would have made a big difference. I may look for longer replacement bolts at the hardware store. That said, the Malone load assist and the adaptors worked just fine together, and my wife and I were able to get our kayaks onto the roof of my Honda Fit without further injury to my back. Looks like we’ll be paddling again this summer!
