Question:

I have a factory roof rack on a 2020 Mazda cx5 with Malone fold down j hooks. We have an old town loon 126 and an old town loon 120. Any easier way to load ? We had pelicans which were very light . Just got the new ones. Has to be an easier way . I am 5’4 so it is hard to help load , I can do it but it’s tough . I have heard of rollers but I don’t think that they work with j hooks and kayaks laying on their sides .

I do have an option for you but there's not much you can do load assist wise for the setup you have now, the Malone FoldAway-J Kayak Roof Rack part # MAL98FR. The Telos XL Load Assist for Malone Kayak Carriers part # MPG351XL is probably your best option but in order to use them you'd likely need a new set of j-style cradles, the Malone DownLoader Kayak Roof Rack part # MPG114MD. In a lot of cases, you can get away without new j-style cradles using the Universal Roof Rack Adapter Kit for Malone Telos XL Load Assist part # MAL95VR but I don't think you have enough room for these with your setup.
