  • 5th Wheel Gooseneck Adapter
  • Slide Hammer
  • Andersen

This slide hammer is an optional tool for installation of the Ranch Hitch fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck coupler adapter. It makes it easier to seat the inner threaded collar around the trailer king pin.

Features:

  • Works with Ranch Hitch 5th-wheel-to-gooseneck coupler adapter, both straight and offset models (AM3100 and AM3139)
  • Allows easy installation of the adapter, even by inexperienced do-it-yourselfers
  • Made in the USA
  • 1-Year limited warranty

The slide hammer is used to pull the threaded collar over the split collar halves that surrond the king pin on the trailer. The adapter base of the Ranch Hitch fifth-wheel-to-gooseneck adapter then screws on to the threaded collar.

Although not required for installation, the slide hammer makes the process quicker and easier because it reduces physical exertion and helps to seat the collar properly. A pulley puller can be used in place of the slide hammer.

Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a brief look together at this Slide Hammer for your Ranch Hitch Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler Adapter. This slide hammer is used to pull the threaded collar over the split collar halves that surround the kingpin on your trailer. Now the adapter base of the Ranch Hitch Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter then screws onto the threaded collar. This is going to work with your Ranch Hitch Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler Adapters.

Both the straight and the offset models. And for your easy reference on your screen, I am including the model numbers of those coupler adapters that this is going to work with. So although this is not required for installation, the slide hammer makes the process quicker and easier because it helps reduce physical exertion and it helps to seat the collar properly. A pulley puller can be used in place of the slide hammer, but this is going to allow for an easy installation of the adapter, even by inexperienced do-it-yourselfers. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today.

I do hope the information was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • How to Install the Threaded Collar of the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler
I have linked a picture below that shows the steps to install the thread collar of the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter item # AM3100. You will want to follow them then thread the adapter all the way to the top. I recommend using the Slide Hammer item # AM3103 to make installing the Ranch Hitch Adapter. It's not required for installation but the slide hammer makes the process quicker because not only does it go on easier but helps to seat the collar properly....

  • 5TH Wheel Hitch/Adapter For CM Truck Beds Flatbed On a 2016 Ram 3500
For your 2016 Ram 3500 with the CM Flat Bed I recommend using the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100. This will attach to the 5th wheel pin box and convert it to be used with your gooseneck ball. You will not need an offset to make jackknife turns, as you have 54" between your headache rack and the gooseneck ball. You will need the Safety Chains # AM3109 since you will be using a ball connection, and the Slide Hammer # AM3103 will aid in the installation...

  • Is Offset Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter Needed For Short Bed Truck
The offset Ranch Hitch adapter is needed for trucks with a bed that is less than 8 feet long. You will need as much clearance as possible with a short bed truck, and without the 8" offset you'll be very limited in how much you can turn. So a short bed will need the offset adapter, which is the following part number: - Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/ 8" Offset # AM3139 In order to make the installation of the # AM3139 much easier, it is recommended to use...

  • Can a Sidewinder Pin Box Be Used w/ a B&W Companion Flat Bed Hitch
No, with your set-up you can not use a rotating pin box (Sidewinder). The Replacement Base for B&W Companion Flatbed 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVB3055 you have still uses the turnover ball for its connection point. The reason you can not use a rotating pin box with the turn over Companion is that the way it attaches using the turnover ball can not handle the torque that is placed on the hitch by using a rotating pin box. You would not be able to use a rotating pin box with any hitch that...

  • Will the Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter Work w/ the GM Factory Puck System?
Yes, it will. The Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset item # AM3139 will definitely work with the standard 2-5/16" gooseneck hitch ball for your 2024 GMC Sierra's factory prep package. I don't have anyway of knowing what pin box your 2023 Palomino Puma has but this adapter is designed to be used with standard pin boxes only. You can not use it with a cushioned or air ride pin box. You will need the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck...

  • How do I Convert My Demco Highjacker to the Ranch Hand # AM3139 Gooseneck on My 2012 Ford F-150?
What you first need to do is remove your Hijacker # DM8550040 from the Demco adapter rails. The next thing you need is a gooseneck hitch that is compatible with industry-standard fifth wheel rails. I recommend the Curt Spyder Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # 16085. Once the gooseneck hitch is installed, you are ready for the Ranch Hand # AM3139. It is important to note that the Ranch Hand requires the slide hammer/gear puller # AM3103 to install. The slide hammer is used to pull the threaded...

  • Recommended Offset 5th Wheel To Gooseneck Adapter For Additional Turning Clearance In 2020 Ram 1500
I may have an option for you, but the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139 you were looking at will only give you a total of 8" offset. Combined with your orginal 27" of clearance this will only bring you to 35" which is a bit short of the 40" of clearance you were looking for. Besides using your Reese Revolution as designed with a 5th wheel hitch, this will be your best option. If you choose to go this route I recommend...

  • Why Is Slide Hammer Needed to Install Ranch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter AM3100
Installation of the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100 can be simplified by using the Slide Hammer # AM3103. Although not required for installation, the slide hammer makes the process quicker and easier because it reduces physical exertion and helps to seat the collar properly. • How to Remove # AM3100 Ranch Hitch Universal 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Coupler Adapter
To remove the Ranch Hitch # AM3100, you'd remove the bolts attaching the flange to the pin box. At that point, use a spanner wrench like part # AM3104 to unscrew the adapter base. Once the base comes off, you'll need a slide hammer like part # AM3103 to push up the threaded collar, at which point the split collets will come out. Then the threaded collar can be slipped off the king pin.

  • Removal of the Threaded Collar on Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter
To remove the threaded collar on the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3100 or # AM3139 the manufacturer recommends the use of the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch # AM3103 as you can see by the cut out of the instructions. Hopefully when the installation of this part was done the instructions were followed and there was a liberal use of anti-seize grease used on the king pin, collar and collets, which is what would be needed in order for you to remove the piece....

  • What Fifth Wheel Adapter is Needed for a 2017 GMC Sierra 2500 With Factory Gooseneck?
It may be possible for you to use an adapter, though you'd need to take some measurements first, so you'll have to wait until delivery of your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500. Also, keep in mind the use of a coupler adapter may void the warranty on your trailer, so be sure to contact the manufacturer beforehand. If the use of a coupler adapter does void the warranty, will not fit, or you simply decide to go in another direction, there are other options I'll go over for you. As for the measurements,...

I reached out to my contact at B&W and confirmed the B&W Companion Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs, # BWRVK3500 does have the 7 inch offset from the ball to the kingpin you referenced. The Companion slider hitch, # BWRVK3400 which would be more ideal for a short bed truck is not able to work with your 2008 Toyota Tundra Crew Max with 5.5 foot bed. Since you have a gooseneck installed in your truck bed, I recommend using an adapter like the Andersen Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter, part # AM3100. This attaches to the king pin on the fifth wheel trailer and slips over the gooseneck ball in the bed of the truck. You will need to make sure you watch for clearance when executing turns.
