Can Steel Trailer Couplers Be Attached to an Aluminum Trailer?

If someone is building me an aluminum trailer and I need to purchase a trailer coupler, does it matter if the coupler is made out of steel?

You can safely use a Straight Tongue Coupler # DM13689-95 or A-Frame Coupler # DM13205-95 with your aluminum trailer frame. The zinc coating on these are not going to have any reaction with the aluminum frame.

Do be sure any channels use spacers in the frame to prevent it from collapsing when tightened.

The Demco EZ latch couplers like the part #DM13205-95 have a mechanism that will release when under tension like you are wanting and will allow the trailer to be jacked up and off the ball as well. This would be a great option.

The big difference between the two couplers you mentioned is that the Demco #DM13205-95 does not come with chain anchors and the part #DM16680-52 does.
