A20 Two-Piece Interlocking JawA20 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A20 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Video Transcript for What to Know About the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.

We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.

This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

  • 5th Wheel Hitch Install Kit for 2012 Toyota Tundra
The Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # C16468-204, will fit your 2012 Toyota Tundra with the 6-1/2ft bed. This kit uses the industry standard above bed base rails that are compatible with most hitches from Curt, Reese, Husky, Valley and Draw-Tite. This is also a custom kit that will significantly reduce install time. I have linked you to the installation instructions. Since you have a short bed truck, I strongly recommend using a sliding fifth wheel hitch. Typically, short bed...

  • Recommendation for a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for a Toyota Tundra Supercab with a 6.5 Foot Bed
You will either need a slider hitch or a Sidewinder (see link) to pull a 5th wheel trailer with your Toyota Tundra Supercab, with a 6-1/2 foot bed. For the 6-1/2 foot bed I would recommend a slider hitch and the Curt E5 16K Fifth Wheel Trailer hitch with R5 Roller, item # 16516 is a good choice. Along with this hitch you will need an installation kit for your truck. For the 2007-2010 Toyota Tundra 6-1/2 foot Box, except Crew Max, you will need the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit,...

  • Recommended Gooseneck Hitch and 5th Wheel Hitch for 2015 Toyota Tundra
With a 6-1/2 foot bed on your 2015 Toyota Tundra, there are components under the bed that do not allow the B&W Companion hitch from fitting on the 6-1/2 foot bed truck. The good news is you still have a couple options I recommend for both a gooseneck and a 5th wheel hitch on your 2015 Toyota Tundra. The option that is most similar to what you are looking at is to use the Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch w/ Installation Kit - 30,000 lbs, # C60751. You can then...

  • Will The Curt E16 Fit A 2017 Toyota Tacoma 6'6" Bed
Yes, the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 will be a fit for your 2017 Toyota Tundra 6-1/2' bed. You'll just need some base rails like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Toyota Tundra # C16468-204 for the hitch to mount to. I do want to note that the E16 is a base level hitch that's designed to get the job done without all the best features. It has a slide bar jaw, which is going to allow for enough play to be noisy while towing. If you don't plan on...

  • Fifth Wheel Towing Capacity of 2012 Toyota Tundra Double Cab 2WD With 5.7L V8 and Standard Bed
I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2012 Toyota Tundra and its ratings for towing a fifth wheel trailer are based on the GCWR (Gross Combination Weight Rating), which is the weight of your fully loaded '12 Tundra PLUS the weight of a fully loaded trailer. Put simply, your towing capacity will be your GCWR minus your GVWR, which I'll detail for you with an example, but the issue is that for a '12 Tundra, the GCWR is going to depend on a couple factors. The exact towing capacity of your 2008 Toyota Tundra depends on several factors, like the engine size, drive system, and whether or not it includes the tow package. • Correct Curt A25 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Dually with Prep Package
For your 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD Dually with the factory prep package, you are actually going to want to use the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package part # C16066, not the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 which is for above bed base rails that you don't have. The cost can be found on the product page using the link above. The Curt A25 is an excellent choice and one of my favorite 5th wheel hitches on the market. The reason for this...

  • Fitting A New 5th Wheel Hitch On A Truck With Older Style Rails
I do have a solution that will allow you to keep the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Mounting Brackets # DM8552027 that are already installed on your vehicle. You will have to change your existing older style rails for universal rails that will fit newer style hitches. The Universal Above-Bed Base Rails for Demco # DM6071 will work great, as this will bolt up to your current brackets. For the 5th wheel hitch itself, I recommend either the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16120 or the...

  • Comparing Goose Box to 5th Wheel Pin Box and Hitch Regarding Articulation and Capacity
The Reese Goose Box # RP94720 has an integrated air back and shock system that will help on rough terrain. It works very much the same as some pin boxes like the Trailair Flex Air- 21,000 lbs # RP85FR. The issue you will find is that your trailer weight given is greater than the pin boxes we carry. The Goose Box is only rated for 20K and our pin boxes max at 21K. For the capacity you are seeking, I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch- 25,000 lbs # C16180 which has a fully...

  • Can Curt Q24 Fifth Wheel Hitch be Used with Rota Flex Pin Box
If you locked out the rotating portion of the Rota-Flex pin box you could use the Curt Q24 # C16245 with it. Or if you wanted to keep using that feature of the pin box you could go with the A25 hitch part # C16180 which is a redesigned version of the Q24 that will work with the RotaFlex.

  • Can You Add 5th Wheel Pucks To a 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500
I do have an option for you but if they were not installed from the factory, there is no way to add pucks to a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. Therefore, if you want to install a fifth wheel hitch you will need to install a set of above bed base rails like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16429-204. I have attached an install video I did on this kit if you'd like to give it a watch. These rails will work with pretty much any hitch so long as said hitch is designed to...

  • Difference Between Curt A25 and Q25 5th Wheel Hitches
The difference between the Curt A25 part # C16180 and the Curt Q25 part # C16265 is the jaw system. I have attached a photo for your reference. The A25 is an upgraded version of the Q25 because of it's interlocking jaw. The A25 interlocking jaw results in full contact with the king pin on the fifth wheel which reduces the rattle and chucking you may experience with a looser king pin connection. Although both options are great fifth wheel hitches with 25,000 lbs of towing capacity, the A25...

  • Is The Curt Q25 Fifth Wheel Hitch Compatible With Rota Flex Pin Boxes
The whole Curt Q-Series line like the Curt Q25 # C16265 you referenced is not compatible with the Rota Flex pin box line like the # LC328330, nor are they compatible with rotating pin boxes. The pivoting system of the pin box works against the pivoting system of the hitch head and can cause the components of the head to deteriorate, ultimately leading to the hitch head failing. The only option is to either replace the pin box with one of the same bolt pattern or to replace the hitch....

  • Comparing the Curt A25 and Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
The main difference between the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16180 and the Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16265 is the hitch head. The head on the A25 is far superior to the head on the Q25 because it has an interlocking jaw system that grips the kingpin tightly so very minimal movement is allowed, it offers a one pin head removal system. The overall feel of the head is just much smoother on the A-Series when compared to the Q-Series. I have attached a photo to show...
