Backing into a campsite or maneuvering through a tight spot is smoother with the Demco Autoslide. It slides itself as you turn, giving up to 14" of additional clearance between your cab and trailer. The rack-and-pinion gear system takes care of the movement automatically—no getting in and out to pull a lever. When you straighten out again, the head slides back into towing position on its own for a steady, centered ride.
The single-piece wraparound jaw completely surrounds the king pin for full 360-degree contact, keeping your trailer locked in tight with no slop or banging. A 3/4" solid steel locking bar drops into place once the jaw closes for an extra layer of security. The result is a quieter, more stable ride with less chucking and no need to wonder if the trailer’s really latched.
The double-pivot hitch head moves both front-to-back and side-to-side so it lines up easily when coupling and cushions road shock while towing. Three polyurethane dampeners absorb vibration and noise as you roll over rough sections, helping keep both truck and trailer stable through dips and turns.
Built from sturdy steel with a rust-resistant black powder coat, this hitch is rated for 18,000 lbs gross towing weight and 4,500 lbs vertical load. The solid construction gives it the backbone to handle big fifth wheels trip after trip without flexing or wear. With three height settings from 15-1/2" to 18-1/4", you can dial in the setup for proper clearance and level towing.
When you’re done towing, pull the safety pins, turn the handles to unlock the feet from the underbed receivers, and lift out the hitch for a clear bed. The head lifts off separately from the base so it’s easier to handle despite its hefty build—about 300 lbs total with roughly 65 lbs for the head alone. It’s a straightforward way to get your full bed space back without tools or special equipment.

THE BEST FUNCTIONAL SHORT BED 5th WHEEL HITCH OUT THERE BUT ALSO THE HEAVIEST AND THE MOST DIFFICULT TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A GARAGE TO REMOVE IT AND AGAIN TO REINSTALL IT. I JUST LEAVE IT IN THE TRUCK BED NOW RATHER THAN FIGHT WITH IT.

The Demco hijacker 18 K I think is the best hedge out there by far three different height settings and the auto slider part of it is awesome haven’t had an issue at all

good happy with the whole set up.had a small issue that demco remedied swiftly.only other thing is the finish does not seam to last.it is covered when not in use and it chips and rust,s easily
