With the B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch you get the best of both worlds. When you go to tow, the Turnoverball creates a sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer. And when you're done towing, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch to get full bed access and a clean appearance.
Easy-to-Remove, Simple-to-Store Hitch Ball
The durable steel hitch ball included with the Turnoverball system secures in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin that is incorporated into the end of the operating handle. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in the bed of your truck. Then rotate the handle in your driver's-side wheel well counterclockwise until the latch engages. When the latch is engaged, the spring-loaded pin on the end of the handle will be inserted all the way through the base of the hitch ball, forming a strong, solid connection and ensuring absolute security when you're towing.
When you're done towing, remove the hitch ball by simply pulling the handle out as far as it will go and then rotating it clockwise until it unlatches. Remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.
Unlike typical gooseneck balls - which have round bases - the Turnoverball hitch ball is designed with a square base. This makes latching the ball in the hitch easier because the base won't rotate inside of the hitch like a round base might, so lining the pin up is a snap. The base of the ball also fits tightly within the ball hole during storage. Because only the corners of the base contact the sides of the socket, any dirt or grime that gets into the hitch will fall through the socket, thus helping to prevent any buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.
Simple, Custom Installation
This hitch is custom designed for your vehicle. The included mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.
Once you have the hitch brackets and body installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the hitch ball.
B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Accessories
B&W makes it easy to tow just about anything. With the many adapters and accessories available, the Turnoverball can be made to work with almost any gooseneck trailer. Hitch balls are available that have a built-in rise, an offset, and even a different connection type. Add on the Companion fifth-wheel hitch - which attaches directly to the Turnoverball with no other parts required - and you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer. Even a truck bed utility rack is available so that you can easily haul ladders and lumber with the load placed on the hitch (and therefore your truck's frame) instead of your bed rails.

2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
The installation videos are pretty accurate all around. Admittedly, this took me a little longer than the projected time frame, which I anticipated. Removing the driver side wheel well insert also made torquing the bolts there easier. Installation would likely be easier with a buddy, and reaching the torque specifications on several bolts was difficult with a standard 1/2 inch drive torque wrench, but it was all possible and fit 100% perfectly. Excellent conversion for my 3500 8foot bed. Next step is to get the matching fifth wheel hitch and purchase our dream RV.1235763
Exceptional quality product with great finish. All parts fit perfectly. The video showing the installation of the hitch was extremely helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend a buyer cut a hole in a board as the video suggests and use the board to guide the hole saw as it will jump around otherwise. The one suggestion I would make is for the manufacturer to provide a template for the four holes needed for the safety chain hooks. I could only reach one hole from underneath the truck, and that wasn’t easy. It would also be nice to have a car lift. My car lift has an airplane wing stored on it so I couldn’t use it. I did back the truck onto two ramps that raised it about 10 inches which was very helpful. All in all a reasonable do-it-yourself project - even for a 77 year old!1442946

B&W is the only way to go. While I had access to a hoist for installation which made the process infinitely easier. The installation was pretty straight foreword. I made my own rig for holding the assembly in place and would recommend doing the same. Having access to the full bed is really nice. The hitch comes in two pieces and I can lift both pieces. I would recommend having a cart to set the hitch on from the bed then get a Harbor Freight dolly to set it on to move around.1387360

Hitch has give no problems and was easy to install. The only issue is when loaded heavy taking off and stopping there is a significant “pop” when the load shifts. I assume is need of lubricant on the ball where it sits in the receiver1438555

2019 GMC Sierra 2500
Looks to be made heavy duty I installed it at home in my garage fairly straight forward to do having never installed one haven’t had a chance to use it as I’m waiting on a trailer to be made
Note on install I did this laying on the floor I do recommend removing the rear tailpipe hanger and pulling down on the tailpipe to get extra room to slide the canter plate over the exhaust pipe also remove the composite shield on the spare and the spare tire I wasn’t in a hurry I took my time. Cutting the 4” hole I bought a new Milwaukee hole saw the teeth chipped and broke I don’t recommend it I have a 6’6” bed so the hole I cut was 44.75” plus 1/8th for the spray in liner DON’T use the factory dimple as you can see the instructions put my center just in front of the factory mark but it is centered 677083
Hitch seems to work ok but my packaging didn't come with a ball insert to put in it so I had to put out $[XX] to get one. Also the release handle will not turn and lock in place. Looks like the metal needs to be cut a little more for it to rotate and lock.1414713
I installed this yesterday, along with the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch. Very good instructions, well written, great illustrations. Everything fit perfectly, no struggles with alignment. Very good hardware. Looks to be very sturdily built, the welds looks great.
One thing to look out for - on my 2016 Chev 3500 anyway, the exhaust is in the way of drilling the passenger side retractable chain hook holes. You will need an angle drill or drill with a flexible extension cable. Or get your steel rule out and do some serious measuring like I did and drill the holes from the top down. I drilled the accessible driver's side, then transposed those measurements to the passenger side and drilled from the top using a small drill. After hitting the hole, I used progressively larger drills until I found the edge of the 1/2" hole in the center plate, then hogged out the hole the rest of the way with a Dremel grinder. Not a big deal, just had to get a little creative.
Over all, excellent experience, from the purchase, the help from customer service (fantastic people!), fast delivery and easy install.
Works fantastic! Used quite a bit for work and play. No problems!

Very heavy duty product had a little difficulty getting some holes lined up but when it went together it was solid. Missing a couple 1/2 inch flat washers in the package but had some on hand so worked out ok. It’s heavy but that’s part of being a good safe hitch. Thanks etrailer and B&W1333768

2016 GMC Sierra 2500
I watched the video you guys had posted for my exact vehicle and that made the installation so much easier. Not that directions are hard to follow, but seeing it done live is the way to go. I'm one that likes to do things myself unless it's super cheap for an install, in this case everyone I talked to quoted around $350 to $450. My buddy and I did the install this past weekend and it turned out great. I hooked up to my gooseneck last night and im happy to say this hitch is awesome! Can't wait to show the wife how a gooseneck trailer rides so much better than a bumper pull, I'm trying to convince her to upgrade from a travel trailer to a fifth wheel, I think this will convince her. 356632
I installed this hitch on a 2018 Chevy HD 2500 WT Duramax model. I'll first start off that etrailer is awesome to deal with.
Instructions were correct with no issues. B & W makes a nice product and it is heavy duty.
Having installed one of these hitches before, I already knew what to look for, so that made my life a bit easier. The other thing that made my life easier was installing it on a new truck (700 miles) haha.
So, I will give a little tip to installers of this hitch. There is a cross bar that is threaded, that the center section bolts to(The rear crossbar). There is 6 pre-tapped holes. DO yourself a favor and run a tap through those holes first. B & W does not cover the holes before they powder coat the part, so inserting the bolts would be a real pain. Also, measure twice (or more) for the bed hole, you don't want to screw that up. Take the measurement from the edge of the bed where the tailgate is, NOT from the front of the bed. Other than that, everything else was good and the fit was perfect.
Sorry, I don't have more pics, but I didn't think, I would be doing a review, plus I was trying to get it done.
Took about 4 hours to install, including running the wiring harness kit (separate) for the gooseneck trailer.
As for my nickname (Angry Johnny) I only cursed once....lol564577
I got the hitch in two boxes, split due to weight I presume. The shortest of the two was in an strainer box with handles and had no damage to the package at all. The second box which contains the longest components of the hitch arrived in it’s original box and the end was completely gone. I believe all the contents are there but not sure at this time. It would be the best to have trailer put this longer box in an e trailer box that has handles so it can be handled with mor care throughout the shipping process. Overall this product is the best on the market. Would highly recommend etrailer.com for all towing needs.1269122

2017 GMC Sierra 3500
Loved the quick shipping. Only had a few days to get this and it arrived with 1 day to spare. Had it installed at the dealer's, took a couple of hours. Hauled a heavy trailer over 400 miles with no problems. Worked great.720819
Had this hitch installed on a 2019 GMC Sierra Denali. I was very satisfied with both the hitch and the shipping. Just traded the Denali for a 2020 Chevy 3500 Dually last week which came with the gooseneck package so no longer have the hitch.

The heat shield does have to be removed to install B&W gooseneck trailer hitch # BWGNRK1016 on your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 because it is in a position that interferes with the hitch installation. All of the gooseneck hitches for your truck will either need to have the heat shield removed or trimmed for installation. view full answer...
I checked with B and W and when you install the part # BWGNRK1016 in your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 the 4 inch hole will get drilled 44-3/4 inches from the rear edge of the bed.

Yes, the heat shield on your 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 while installing the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit part # BWGNRK1016 will need to be removed and then discarded. The heat shield is not a critical component so you should not have any issues leaving it off whatsoever. It basically stops any heat from getting transferred to your bed floor and causing any discoloration but this is now replaced with a very thick piece of metal so the hitch... view full answer...
You do need a new B and W Companion rail kit with part # BWGNRK1016 for your 2019 Sierra 2500 because while there were some updates to the 2015.5 GMC Sierra 2500HD the updates weren't as extensive as the 2016 models which have a different setup for fifth wheel hitch rail kit installs. The older kit you have will not work in the new truck.
I attached an install video for this kit on a similar 2019 Sierra for you to check out as well. view full answer...
While we don't have a replacement hardware kit we can offer you for the # BWGNRK1016 I did attach a picture that shows all of the hardware you'd need that you could source at a local hardware store.

I'm not sure which 2018 GMC Sierra Denali you have, as in 1500, 2500 or 3500. I recommend you consult your owner's manual to find the towing capacity for your specific truck. It sounds to me like this is what the dealer was referencing. Even though the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit # BWGNRK1016 has a gross towing weight of 30,000 lbs you will be limited by the overall towing capacity of your vehicle.
If you find that this is higher than 13,500... view full answer...
The B and W Gooseneck Hitch part # BWGNRK1016 is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed and would be a great option.

Since a 6 foot 6 inch bed is 78 inches, that leaves you with 34 inches from the gooseneck to the front of your bed. Once you install your 27 inch combo box, you should have about 7 inches left. view full answer...
I pulled up the installation instructions for the # BWGNRK1016 which is a fit for your 2016 GMC Sierra 3500 and found that the hitch ball center measures 49-1/2 inch from rear and the Curt hitch you have installed would be located 47 inches from the FRONT of the truck bed. Since we don't have access to the overall length of your truck bed measured from the front of the inside of the bed to the back of the truck bed edge you will have to measure to check on your truck. view full answer...
When installing the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1016 on your 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed the center of the 4 inch hole will be located 44-3/4 inches from the rear of the truck bed. I have attached an image from the installation manual that you can use for reference.

The shipping weight of B&W gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1016 is 112 pounds. Subtract no more than 5 pounds for packaging and at the very least it weighs approximately 107 pounds. Individually the hitch head by itself has a shipping weight of 48 pounds and the install kit is at 64 pounds totaling out to 112 pounds shipping weight. view full answer...
The newer GM trucks have been designed with a rise in the front of the bed. Therefore, the bed is not completely level the whole length. I contacted a tech specialist at B&W on this iissue. He recommended that at the front (closest to the truck cab) of the gooseneck hitch # BWGNRK1016 to loosen (do not remove) the 4 bolts on the side bracket. You will need to allow the front section to drop a little then re-tighten and re-torque the bolts.

There are three Curt gooseneck hitches available for your 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck with the 6-1/2 ft-bed. The safety chain locations are different depending on the hitch you have on your truck. The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit # BWGNRK1016 does have some tight spots. The use of a swivel adapter is a big help. He said that you can just put an open end wrench on that one bolt and tighten it as much as you can and that will suffice because... view full answer...

Spray-in bed liners are typically only about 1/16". I reached out to my contact at B&W who said that when you install the Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1016 on your 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 you can just use the same measurements for the 4" hole location as if you didn't have a bed liner. So for a long bed the center of the hole will be 49-1/2" from the rear of the truck bed but that is reduced to 44-3/4" for a short bed.

In most cases B&W doesn't recommend using any type of lubricant on the spring and latch on your Turnoverball # BWGNRK1016 as it will only attract dirt and moisture on that spring; however in this case you can use some penetrating oil on the ball and the latch to try to loosen everything up.
