Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for the Chevrolet and GMC trucks. This one has the carbide finish base rails on it. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1999 to 2010 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, and 3500 models with either the six and a half foot bed or the eight foot bed. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if you this will work for application.
Now this kit here is a complete installation kit. This will allow you to install a fifth wheel to your truck bed. This kit here includes the custom fit mounting brackets right on your side here. The base rails, the hardware to install everything, comes with a nice set of instructions that'll have pictures of how everything goes together. And they even include this extra bracket for the relocation of your electrical box.
Now the brackets on the side here, these mounting brackets, these will mount beneath your truck bed and they provide the attachment points for your fifth wheel rails. This provides a nice custom fit by mounting to the existing holes that's in your vehicle's frame. This will minimize the amount of drilling that's required and it helps cut the insulation time in half when compared with the universal bracket kits that are out there. Now the base rails, which is these here, these base rails is what'll sit in your truck bed and they allow the installation of your fifth wheel trailer hitch to your truck. These base rails are visible, and these have the nice carbide mat finish to them which will match the CURT fifth wheel hitch.
These mounting brackets have a nice black powder coat finish to them to resist corrosion. And this kit is designed to work with the BMW brand, the CURT, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky brand above bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. Update I have probably put about 5000 miles of towing With this kit I have not had an issue with it still looks good no rust all the bolts are still tight

This was very difficult to install. I feel like it could have easily been designed for an easier install. All the threads were poor, and they all had to be chased with a tap & die. After getting it installed I ended up buying a 5th wheel with a gooseneck hitch - so I replaced it with a ball hitch.

1 Year later, the brackets and rails still look new. the paint hasnt chipped or faded. I interchange a 5th wheel saddle and gooseneck ball plate often and even the paint near the mounting points still looks good.
