Im looking for custom mounting brackets for a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500hd extended cab short bed. Ive saw them that were 3/8 inch thick steel. Can you make a suggestion?

These have the thickness you want and less drilling than the mediocre universal kits so they are definitely the way to go.
