I ordered this rotor to use as a spare during long trips in case damage is so great, the hub would be shot. As always with etrailer, good price and fast shipping. The box arrived in good condition, but the rotor needed the threads chased on one wheel stud and a inner bore dressing up of two small high spots on the wheel seal surface due to two dings right on the edge of the machined surface where the seal installs. These were easily fixed, so I didn't want to go the return route and wait several more days.

I have used these guys before the web page is easy to use, delivery is fast, and the order is accurate. Kodiak brakes are easy to install and are the best I have found for salt water use on boat trailers.

Ask the Experts about this Kodiak Trailer Hubs and Drums

  • Do Torsion Axles Move Up and Down or No Movement at All
Sounds like your trailer may have torsion axles which means the main body of the axle does not move up and down. If instead the axle uses leaf springs for suspension then the whole axle does move up and down. If you are unsure you can send me a picture of the axle near the hub and I'll take a look.

  • Will the Bearing Races be Installed in the Kodiak 12 Inch Hub and Rotor Assembly
The bearing races will be installed on the Kodiak Hub and Rotor Assembly, # KHR12D. The bearings for the hub are # 25580 for the inner and # 15123 for the outer. We offer a Bearing Kit, # BK3-100, that includes both bearings # 25580 and # 15123, but also the grease seal 10-36 with an inside diameter of 2.25 inches.

  • Minimum Thickness Allowed for Kodiak 225 Disc Brake Rotors
The minimum thickness/clearance for the Kodiak 225 disc brake rotors like the # KHR12D is 21.6mm. I confirmed this with my contact at Kodiak.

  • What Parts Needed When Replacing Disc Brake Rotors # KHR12D on Boat Trailer
When replacing the disk brake rotors on your trailer it is recommended that you also replace your bearings, races and seals at the same time. This will ensure that all components are new and in good order and will prevent the need to dismantle your trailer again to replace an older part that may wear out before others. The bearing kit for this rotor is part # BK3-100. I have included an article that covers the process of replacing bearings, races and seals on a trailer hub. The Kodiak...

  • Bearing Buddy Recommendation for 5,200 lb Axle Kodiak Rotor Hub
The correct bearing buddy for the Hub part # KHR12D that you referenced would be based on the 15123 outer bearing that the hub uses. Based on that you would want the Bearing Buddy part # BB2441. Installing the Bearing Buddy is pretty easy and would not work with the tool you mentioned. I have included a link to a video and if you fast forward to about the 5:20 minute mark, our installer puts one on. He lines it up first and gives it a tap to get started. Then he places a block of wood...

  • Thickness of Rotor Portion of Kodiak 12-Inch Hub-and-Rotor Assembly KHR12D
The thickness of the rotor on Kodiak 12-Inch Hub-and-Rotor Assembly # KHR12D is 0.930-inch (23.6mm). I confirmed this dimension with my technical contact at Kodiak. Naturally this starting thickness will gradually be reduced from use.

  • Does Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # KHR12D Fit all 6k Trailer Axles
If you have a standard 6k trailer axle the Kodiak kit part # KHR12D is going to be a fit for it. Easiest way to check is to pull the hub off your current axle and check the bearing numbers in it. If they are # 25580 and # 15123 (which this kit does not supply), then this would fit and work well for you. The other way to check is to measure the spindle where the bearings ride. If the dimensions are 1.73 and 1.38 inch this kit would fit.

  • Recommended Disc Brake Components for Nuwa Hitchhiker 5th Wheel Trailer Conversion
For your Nuwa Hitchhiker 5th wheel, I recommend you start with the Kodiak 12" Hub-and-Rotor Assembly - 6 on 5-1/2 # KHR12D. For this assembly you will need the bearing kit # Bearing Kit # BK3-100. For your grease caps you will need # RG04-060 which come in sets. For your calipers, I recommend the Kodiak Disc Brake Caliper - Dacromet# KDBC225DAC along with the mounting bracket # KCMB12D and brake pads # K225CP. For your brake lines and your Electric Over Hydraulic actuator, I recommend...

  • Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for 2003 Ranger Trail Trailer
The grease seal you have has the inner diameter of 2.125 and is basically a # GS-2125DL. So what you'd need to do is use the grease seal # GS-2125DL with the correct bearings for this kit of # 25580 and # 15123 and you'd be set. These bearings and seals would be all that you'd need to fit the hub/rotor kit to your axle.

  • Recommended Suspension And Brake Upgrade For 2019 Forest River Sabre 32DPT W/ Tandem 5200lb axles
I have another suggestion, but I don't think changing the axles wheels will have the added benefit you are looking for. Moving from 5200lb axles to 7000lb or 8000lb and heavier duty leaf springs will actually cause a rougher ride due to springs being stiffer than needed for the weight of your 2019 Forest River Sabre 32dpt. There is also not a kit to complete this change, and it will be pretty involved and costly. Going overkill on suspension usually leads to more negatives than positives,...

I do have a way to help you get the correct replacement rotor hub for your 2004 Four Winns trailer, but unfortunately we do not have a list of parts on trailers. Usually we can help you get the correct replacement parts based off of the weight capacity of your axle, but to ensure that everything is correct it is best that you know what bearings and seal that you need.
