Best Snow Tire Chains for 285/75-16 Tires Driving on Snow and Ice
Question:
I have a 2001 2500 GMC with BFG AT 285 75/16 tires. I am a river duck Hunter who needs chains to pull my boat blind up icy boat ramps. Then up a steep gravel road with snow packed ice to our cabin. What chain type do you recommend for my icy conditions pulling a heavy weight boat? V-bar, d-shaped, or square?

Expert Reply:
I highly recommend going with chains that have V-bar studs in order to get the best grip in icy conditions. The best tire chains that have V-bar studs that fit the 285/75-16 tires on your 2001 GMC Sierra are the Glacier V-Bar Snow Tire Chains with Cam Tighteners - 1 Pair # PWH2828SC.
I have added a link to an install video of these chains for you to check out as well.
