Question:
Hello, I’m looking to obtain a decent set of chains for my Jeep Wrangler currently running Nitto Ridge Grapplers 285/75R17 with no lift. I live in California and it is law to carry them to our place in Big Bear. Currently looking at the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Chains w/ Cams for Wide Base Tires - Ladder Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair - TC3229SCAM and want to ensure these will fit my tires and clear when on the tires. Also, will the T-Shaped Cam Tightening Wrench for Titan Chain Heavy Truck Snow Tire Chains - TCTH3 work with those chains? Lastly, do you recommend using the Glacier Multi-Arm Tire Chain Tensioners for 16 to 19 Rims - Rubber - 1 Pair - PW105 for reinforcement with the chains? Thanks for your help!

The # TC3229SCAM physically fit 285/75R17 tires, but I took a glance at the owners manual of your Jeep Wrangler and it states that traction devices shouldn't be used on tires your size (actually tires even smaller than yours), so I would avoid these chains. Since you have to have them by law I highly recommend Class S chains which require limited clearance (a minimum of 1.46" between the top of the tire tread and wheel well, and at least 0.59" between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself).:
- Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2335
The # TC2335 fit 285/75R17 tires, are a good snow tire chain with square links for traction, and are Class S for limited clearance. You wont need the cam tightening wrench with these, but I do highly recommend using tensioners, and you can use the ones you mentioned, the Glacier Multi-Arm Tire Chain Tensioners for 16" to 19" Rims # PW105.
