Question:

The best way to determine what system will work for you is to know what your total tongue weight is. The total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully-loaded-ready-to-tow trailer added to the weight of any cargo you place behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. You will then want to find a system where your total tongue weight falls near the middle of the tongue weight range for the system. Getting a system that is too small will be useless, but getting a system that is too big will result in a stiff, uncomfortable experience.

You can use a scale like part # e99044 to get the tongue weight and have a better idea of the system to go with.

If you find your total tongue weight is less than 1,400 lbs I recommend a weight distribution system like part # BXW1500. This is designed to work with tongue weight between 1,000 and 1,500-lbs. The hitch ball is sold separately. for a 2-inch ball I recommend part # A-90, and for a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend part # 19286.

If you find your tongue weight is more than 1,400-lbs I recommend a system like part # BXW2000. This system is designed to work with tongue weight between 1,500 and 2,000-lbs. This system does require a 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver opening like part # C15810, which is a good idea when towing a heavy trailer. The 2-inch hitch ball I recommend for this hitch is part # 63845, and for a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend part # 63847.

I have attached a link to a helpful article for weight distribution.
