Question:
Hi, I have a 2004 Wells Cargo sled trailer and I need to know how can I tell or know if the electric brake magnet is wore out? The Drum is marked 8-247 Dexter so I am assuming that it is a 10inch x 21/4 drum with 5 lugs. The pads fell off of the brake shoes. Thanks,

Are there any visible signs of wear on the magnets like exposed windings then that would indicate they need replacing.
Magnets can go bad without showing visible signs of wear though. To see how to troubleshoot them check out the help article I attached.
For replacement magnets for the Dexter 10 by 2-1/4 inch assemblies you would want the part # BP01-110.
As bad as your assemblies sound you might just want to replace both assemblies. For the left hand side you would want the part # AKEBRK-35L-SA and for the right hand side part # AKEBRK-35R-SA.
