So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

The Derale transmission cooler fitting # D13018 is listed as a fit for your 2002 Chevy S10 2.2 liter. The fittings thread onto steel transmission lines and in the radiator so you will not have to flare the lines. I included a picture that illustrates this.

  • How are the Derale Adapter Fittings # D13018 Installed and Used to Install a Transmission Cooler
The male end of the Derale Radiator Adapter part # D13018 that you referenced does thread into the outlet side of the factory cooler in your radiator. The female side of this adapter would thread onto the male side of the coolant line that you removed from the factory cooler. I realize that's probably hard to visualize so I attached a diagram that shows how both sides of the adapter are used. I also attached an FAQ article on transmission coolers, plus a video of one being installed....

  • Should 2007 GMC Sierra Classic be Put in 4WD When Towing a Heavy Load Long Distance
I checked out the online version of the owner's manual and it looks like for your 2007 GMC Sierra Classic then you want to use the Tow/Haul mode for heavy towing and/or shift the transmission to 3rd or lower if it is shifting too often. Aside from that though it doesn't state anything about 4WD so I wouldn't worry about it. You may consider adding a transmission cooler like the Derale # D13502 to help keep your transmission from overheating and making your engine work harder. If you have...

This product measures 15-1/4 inches Wide x 10 inches tall x 3/4 deep. Transmission coolers are not too hard to install. I have installed a couple of them and they were not too bad at all. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2006 Chevy 2500HD 4L80E Transmission
Good call trying to reduce your transmission fluid temperatures. The cooler the fluid is the longer the transmission will last. The best way to pick out the best cooler for a vehicle is to measure the area in front of the radiator/ac condenser and select the largest cooler to fit there. It also helps to get a stacked plate style cooler as they are the most efficient and pretty small in size. I attached a link to a page that has all of the stacked plate coolers we offer.
