Best Direction To Attach Load When Using E-Track Cargo Control System
Updated 11/18/2014 | Published 11/17/2014 >
Question:
In one answer on the recommended direction of load on the e-tracks, it was said that the load should be parallel to the track. However, depending on the direction of the slots, that could either mean the load applied perpendicular to the slots the longer direction or along the slot. So, with the tie off rings or d-rings that connect to the E-tracks, do you want the load to pull along the direction of the slot or perpendicular to the slot?

Expert Reply:
For the E-Track Trailer Cargo Control to be able to reach it's full capacity, the direction of the pull should be parallel to the direction that the e track is installed.
How much the capacity would be lowered by pulling the load perpendicular to the E-Track will depend on the weight of the load and the stress placed on the track. If the load is close to the capacity of the straps, pulling at a 90 degree angle could damage the track or the clip that locks the strap into the track.
