How to extend it about 8 in long? Can I just use regular 5 wires and extend them?

The only way to make the Tekonsha brake controller wiring harness # 3016 longer would be to splice in some wire to the length needed. This harness has just 4 wires so you can use bonded 4-wire, # DW04923-1. It is sold in lengths of 1 foot.

I would like to move the tekonsha brake controller currently on my 2015 Toyota Highlander and install on my 2007 GMC Yukon. I look under the dash and find a harness but the plug on the brake controller doesn’t fit. Help please
