Our Hughes Power Watchdog Surge Protector HU42VR is still working perfectly. There have been no issues or defects. I should get compensation for how many people I have told about this, lol. Great product!!
Box was pretty beat up. Contents ok. Well padded. This is my second Watchdog. Worked great out of the box. Nice upgrade with the covered connection.
There are THREE different apps, make sure you download the correct one. You also need to give them an email address and create an account just to get the device connected to Bluetooth or WiFi. If there were ANY other surge protectors that offered a WiFi connection I’d probably go that route
The female plug and rain door/cover are very loose. My rv plug kept just falling out of it if you even brush the cable

Very happy that I can see the status of the unit on my cell phone. I am impressed that the unit I ordered will shut off to protect the camper and then come back on when the power is safe.

Received my Watchdog today from UPS! It was packaged nicely! Tomorrow I'm supposed to pick up my new-to-me 2023 Renegade Vienna, so I wanted to get things ready. So I downloaded the correct app for this model, and after multiple attempts to sync my iPhone w/ the app, checking iPhone settings, looking on the help videos I was about to give up. Now I had thought about plugging the Watchdog into my home electrical outlet using my new 30A-15A dogbone but I thought....surely they would have included that in the directions? So using Google AI I searched and they listed some of the same things to check, version of app etc....and they also stated "The Bluetooth radio on the Power Watchdog will not function unless it is plugged in and receiving power. The dog face should be lit up." After I powered up the Watchdog my iPhone located it in seconds using Bluetooth! So please include to power the Watchdog up in the directions for us manual freaks who read the directions verbatim. I'm sure the product works great, I'll find out tomorrow with the RV! Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone else. I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the directions given.

Package arrived in good shape and as tracked with the app. Purchased for an upcoming trip so no operation information yet.
The wireless connectivity is great and so useful. Surge serpression, low & high voltage work perfectly. Best part is this unit can be repaired easily and cheaply. I've had two expensive Progressive Industries Surge Protectors that lasted just over a year each and there not repairable...such a waist!
Well built surge protector with additional shutdown protection in the event of voltage variations. Great protection for my camper.

Great easy to useo
After verifying with eTrailer about order, was received in great condition very quickly.
I wanted to like this, and it does do the basic job and. I trust that it is well engineered and built and will protect our trailer, but the app is actually several apps that are for various products that they sell, and it is not clear which is for which product.
Also, although it uses bluetooth, it will not function with cell service, which while camping isn’t a guarantee, and also requires a data plan. Our cell phones are basic and can make and receive voice calls and texts, but because of their software design will not function, and in fact will not even “activate” if all of those conditions are not met. So essentially, all of the fancy monitoring that it is marketed with is unused in our case. It does, thankfully, still function as a “dumb” surge suppressor to protect the trailer.

I completely understand your frustration with the app Jeffrey, and I agree that the different apps and features could be much clearer. I did want to mention that Bluetooth itself does not require cell service or a data plan, although some app features may require an internet connection. Most importantly, even without those features, your Power Watchdog will continue doing its main job of protecting your trailer from electrical issues and keeping you and your RV safe. I do appreciate such an honest a thorough review =)
Disclaimer: This is my first surge protector as it is my first RV. Very nice looking product and easy to operate. Linked to WiFi easily and able to monitor activity via cell phone.
I like the clip to lock the unit to the post. I look forward to enjoying this product’s reputation for years to come.

Love the Hughes Industries Power Watchdog Surge Protector PWD30EPOW. It makes sure you’re getting safe power to your rig, lighting up white to let you know you’re OK, and red if there’s a problem. We’re using ours with our 2026 LTV Wonder. Also picked up a spare replacement “brain” module should we receive an unexpected surge. Way cheaper and easier to replace than damage to something in the rig.
My Marinco Park Power right angle connector with handle fits perfectly.Everything about this surge protector is of the highest quality. EMS working flawlessly, all vitals are at you fingertips on the app. I also purchased the cable lock as well. Looking forward to many years of service.
