As an Installer, I have a "Love Hate" relationship with this product. It HAS THE FEATURES that our customers want, BUT - that installation is tough.
To properly install, it takes some precision stripping and trimming of your wire. There is NO room for mistakes, no room for excess wire, and no room for accidental long strips. (One side of this device, you are installing into the relay contacts themselves, and strips that are inserted too far can damage the relay)
The "E8" Nuetral Error common with inverted systems, also like to just enable itself, after you have disabled it, causing confusion for users.
We will continue to purchase and install these devices as they have the feature set customers WANT.
My order came 4 days early. it works great. The application to monitor the power also worked great.
Product arrived as advertised! Packed well and all parts seem to be included. I have not installed it yet but looks really straight forward. I know if I have any questions, e-trailer will be there for me

Not easy to install because those wires are so big but so worth it. The company was responsive when I had an issue and I've been happy with it ever since.

I am going to give it an average for right now because when I first connected it the unit indicated an E9 error, meaning the surge protection module is used up. This was after I first connected it to a 20 amp circuit (RV storage facility) running on a 50 amp dogbone with no systems running in the RV. However I will give it four stars based on Hughes customer support. Two simple emails and they are shipping a replacement surge module. If the module doesn't fix the issue then they will replace the whole EMS. The unit overall appears to be high quality and bluetooth connection provides great circuit information as well as total amps used by the RV.
Why is connecting via Bluetooth so difficult? There are 3 apps to choose from...why? Of the 3 presented, 2 do not work (incorrect BLE ID error) and the third requires a Hughes account. All I want is to connect locally via Bluetooth, I have no intention of accessing via WiFi nor do I want another account with another company. Most reviews do not mention that an account with Hughes is required to monitor this device, perhaps it is a new requirement with the Gen II model? Anyway, super frustrating that I cannot monitor this device remotely.
Installation instructions were good, but as other reviewers have stated the wiring to support 50A is tough to work with in tight spaces. I fabbed a bracket for a Pelican waterproof case because I ran out of time to place this under the bed where the auto transfer switch and power distribution are located. The case is accessible from underneath, which means I can visually monitor the device if required, but that becomes more problematic during inclement weather. I recognized this issue but was counting on Bluetooth connectivity to eliminate it.

Having used a plug in version, the built in is going to ba an awesome peace of mind.
Highly recommend this product. I installed it on my 2014 Tiffin. Very straightforward installation. Information provided by BLuetooth and Wifi invaluable as far as electrical protection for my motorhome.
Recently installed. First trip out it detected low voltage on one leg. Campground wanted to blame the surge protection until I showed them the app with the details. They replaced the breaker and all was good. The site next to us mentioned that someone had fried a board just last week. PAID FOR ITSELF IN JUST ONE TRIP!! I did need to modify the opening to accommodate the existing coach cord diameter. For the output to the transfer switch I purchased a 50amp range cord and it worked perfectly. Easy install. 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire.
This is the way to go if you want to protect the electronics in your trailer. A couple of bucks for prevention can save you thousands later.
If you’re planning on installing a hard wire version note you can’t connect it to your 120v home outlet if it has a GFCI on that circuit. I had to return it as there is no way to run a dedicated circuit to my trailer.
I like the protector being in-line. Looks very good/neat. It was simple to install just a little time for neatness. Downside: if an issues occurs- no power.
Excellent product that works exactly as expected. I sleep well knowing my RV electrical system and large solar installation are protected while plugged in!
I'm really impressed with the Power Watchdog Surge Protector I installed in my RV. Has not been installed yet. No installation instructions were provided and do far have not been sble to find any? Etrailer has been awesome in providing support for questions pertaining to installation! Will update on product once installed and functional
