How to Make Extension for Tekonsha Brake Controller Wiring Adapter TK93VR
Updated 06/03/2016 | Published 06/01/2016 >
Question:
I bought this wiring harness for my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It fits- but seems to be that they arent standard lengths since some reviewers say its long enough to go thru the center console and others say it cant. I called hoping to get a male-female 4-pole flat extension so I wouldnt have to start splicing wires, but nobody seems to make one. What wires do I need to buy to splice this extension? Could I order a custom extension from you? Even better if you could let me know HOW you installed the brackets for the Tekonsha Voyager and Prodigy in the 2014 Jeep which is supposedly the exact same car? We have tried for hours and hours to follow that videos and drill it into the plastic ledge just to the top of the airbag compartment like you do- and we cant do it. The plastic is too thin and the screws wont hold. Dont know what Im missing. Cant find anything else to drill into. But if unable to screw in the bracket, I need an extension to bring the controller over to the center console. Please help?

Brake controllers are usually mounted so that they are within easy reach of the driver for emergency stops, typically near the driver's right knee. The quick-connect wiring adapters we offer, such as # TK93VR, are long enough for such installations but if you want your controller to be positioned elsewhere you can simply add on Pigtail Wiring Harness # 7894. This 34-inch extension will splice to your existing adapter, color for color, using the included butt connectors.
For mounting your brake controller bracket to your dash you may need to select alternate hardware that better grips the plastic dash. A coarse thread screw should grip the plastic dash material but you can also just substitute bolts/nuts/washers for securing the bracket is that is easier.
