Clearance from Axle to Timbren Rubber Jounce Springs # TDVRRT on 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan
Updated 09/29/2014 | Published 09/27/2014 >
Question:
YESTERDAY THE CHRYSLER DEALER INSTALLED PART TDVRRT FOR ME. THE TECH WAS CONCERNED THAT WHILE THE TIMBREN WAS NOT TOUCHING THE REAR AXLE, THE CLEARANCE IS NOT MORE THAN AN EIGHTH OF AN INCH. HE AND I AGREED THAT I SHOULD DRIVE IT AND SEE. HAVENT DRIVEN IT ENOUGH TO KNOW. IF THIS DOESNT WORK WHAT ARE THE SOLUTIONS? WILL WE CAUSE ANY DAMAGE BY USING THIS PART WITHOUT CLEARANCE?

The Timbren rear axle suspension enhancement kit you referenced, part # TDVRRT, is indeed a correct fit for your 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, and its installation instructions, linked at right for your reference, note that once installed the bottoms of the rubber jounce springs will typically sit about 1/2-inch to 1-1/2-inches above the axle. This clearance distance will vary (or be non-existent) depending on the load in the vehicle and/or the presence of accessories such as a hitch.
