Recommendation of Weight Distribution System for 4500 lb Boat /Trailer With Surge Coupler

Question:
Looking for weight dist. hitch. Already have cls III receiver. Will be towing a boat with dry tounge weight of 250-300lbs, boat dry weight is 4200-4500. Trailer has surge brakes. Would prefer kit that requires no drilling into square tubing of trailer frame for mounting. All to be pulled by 98 Ford Explorer. Lightest kit possible prefereed.

Using a standard weight distribution system that utilizes the snap up brackets and chains is not a good idea on trailers with surge couplers. The tension on the chains would interfere with the operation of the coupler.
I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System, part # RP66558. This system features integrated sway control. The spring bar brackets clamp onto the trailer frame, and would not require you to drill any holes in the frame. This system is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from from 400 to 600 lbs. Please note that the trailer hitch ball is sold separately. The hitch ball requires a 1 inch shank to maximize towing capacity. I recommend parrt # 63845 for a 2 inch ball or part # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch.
