The hitch head houses a tapered ball and a blue cone made of anti-sway friction material. When you're pulling heavier loads, the weight forces the ball deeper into the cone so you have more friction applied. Instead of the spring bars that traditional weight distribution systems have, the Andersen weight distribution hitch has motion-dampening chains and a urethane spring, so when you hit a bump in the road or go over a bridge, the chains pull front-to-back (instead of the up and down motions spring bars have), and the spring absorbs the bounce. This gives you a stable, smooth ride even when your driving through curves, uneven roads, or wind.
This hitch smooths out dips, bumps, and bouncing. Simple maintenance (like light cleaning) and the greaseless system stays quiet mile after mile.
Unlike traditional systems that are hard to lift or install, this setup is lightweight and doesn't require a pry bar. It's strong, simple, and easy to store when not in use.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Andersen Weight Distribution System with sway control. Now a weight distribution system can improve the ride and handling of both your tow vehicle and your trailer by applying leverage to your hitch. This system is going to transfer the weight that normally pushes down on your vehicle back onto all the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer. And that's gonna help keep both your tow vehicle and your trailer level and their weight evenly distributed.
So when your vehicle and your trailer are level, they're gonna ride more smoothly and handle better, and that's going to improve your comfort and safety. Now, most weight distribution systems use metal spring bars to give you that leverage. Those bars can be very heavy and usually have to be pried into place. But in contrast, Andersen's patented true motion dampening weight distribution hitch is going to use these two bushing like springs, and I think you can see both of 'em there from that angle, and they're made of urethane. So those urethane springs are going to give you a much smaller and lighter weight to create the force that is needed to level your tow vehicle and trailer.
And this system is quieter than spring bar systems because there's no moving metal parts to clank together. So this is going to give you a tongue weight up to 1400 pounds and a gross towing weight of up to 14,000 pounds. This is going to slide into your two and a half inch trailer hitch receiver that's rated for use with the weight distribution system. The ball is the standard two and 5/16 inch, and this is going to be compatible with three inch, four inch, five inch, and eight inch trailer frames. And this is going to give you a maximum drop of about eight inches from the top of your hitch receiver opening.
And this whole system weighs about 60 pounds, so it's not overly heavy. In addition to leveling your toe rig, this system is going to resist bounce and sway. The anti-sway and anti-bounce functions are built right in, so once the system has been installed and adjusted, the urethane springs are gonna be under constant tension, pushing the trailer to center. Friction material surrounds the shank of the ball, further resisting motion that's gonna cause sway. You're not gonna need to purchase or install separate anti-sway devices because the ball and tension plate rotate with the coupler, the system won't bind when you make a turn.
Adjusting the tension of the weight distribution system is going to be very easy, all you have to do is turn the tensioning nuts. We have one on each side here, and this also includes a socket here to help get that easily tightened and tensioned down, if you will. And instructions are going to be included. Very easy instructions, really easy to follow, showing you how everything's going to be put together and it didn't take me long at all to put this together on my tabletop, so I think this is gonna be a relatively easy, straightforward install for you. So whether you're parking at camp or repositioning on the road, another great feature is that this hitch is going to let you reverse freely without unhooking. A lot of weight distribution systems will not let you reverse unless you unhook it. This you do not have to unhook to reverse. So that's really a game changer for especially solo travelers or anyone who doesn't wanna waste time unhooking their weight distribution hitch. Well, I think I covered all the basics for you. Product is well made. Getting the position of the brackets on the trailer A-frame is tricky. I had to move them when I noted that there is a limited amount of threads on the chain bolts so too loose or too tight can't be corrected if the brackets are over an inch one way or the other.

From shipping to setup and hookup to towing the entire experience has been excellent! This was very easy to install, it is easy to hookup when towing, it doesn't make that awfull noise, and there has been no sway or sag in weight distribution. It shipped fast, the communication and help offered was outstanding, and the instructions that came with the item were more than enough.
I really like how lite it is! No more 90lb ball to carry around, tows beautifully no sway at all.
My trailer setup is not standard (big lithium batteries on the tongue inside a fabricated box). The only place I could get the brackets required 6 links to be cut off. I’m not happy about this but the trailer is under 4000 lbs so I am hoping it will still have usable weight distribution. I guess I should not have made this purchase.
I had issues with sway control from the minute I purchased this unit. Andersen customer service was fantastic. They assisted me thru troubleshooting. After 8 months of trying I requested a replacement or refund they informed me I had to go thru the company I purchased it from. I was certain that e-trailer would deny my request due to the length of time. They stepped up and spoke with Andersen and I was able to get a refund anthough I have to pay for return shipping as per the warranty. Great job e-trailer.
