want to make sure the front mount trailer receiver custom fit 2 part number c31028 will fit on front of my 1998 jeep wrangler sport

Yep! The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31028 will fit your 1998 Jeep Wrangler Sport. The Curt website lists the # C31028 as a fit for the 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ, which is the designation for second generation Jeep Wranglers (1997-2006). Sport just refers to the trim level of the Wrangler TJ. There will be drilling required to install this hitch and some access holes will need to be enlarged as well. This hitch is rated for 9,000lbs of line pull with a vertical load rating of 350lbs or 3,500lbs. The hitch receiver is 2"x2", so it'll work with most standard hitch accessories.

This hitch worked out perfectly. The hardware that comes with it as well was for user friendly. I have a 97 jeep wrangler TJ

I installed on 04 wrangler for a meyer wingman snowplow. The mount was a direct fitment and worked out great for my jeep.
