I am converting to dual motors on my 5th wheel. Can the LC179013 be used as the follow leg with a motor installed?

Hey Richard, thanks for reaching out. Yes, # LC179013 is actually the leg you want for a dual-motor conversion, but technically it will no longer be a “follow” leg. The # LC179013 is a lead leg, meaning it is designed to accept a gearbox and motor. The standard follow leg # LC179014 cannot accept a gearbox/motor.

To convert to dual motors, you replace the existing follow leg with a second LC179013 lead leg, install a gearbox and motor on it, and eliminate the cross shaft that currently connects the two legs. Each leg then operates from a switch.

Are you converting to dual motors because the current single motor is struggling with the weight of the fifth wheel?

Two reasons. The left side has been replaced, the screw failed. The other is the weight and adjustment for leveling.
