Hello. I am planning on buying the Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch Part Number: EQ37141ET. I need help on which shank should I buy/pair it with. Heres my vehicle and camper info: vehicle - 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD gasoline, 4x4, 6.0L, camper - 2022 Grand Design Imagine 2970RL. My trucks female hitch is 2-1/2inch but I wont mind if I have to buy the 2inch and use the 2-2.5 adapter. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me to decide.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37141ET is a great setup and it can be paired with Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4900. Depending on the orientation in which you install it, this shank will give you up to 10" of rise or 6" of drop. The shank is rated for up to 1,600 lbs of tongue weight and 16,000 lbs of towing weight, so you will not lose any of the weight capacity on the # EQ37141ET and it will stay secure in your hitch without needing an adapter. This is the best option for your setup.
It's best to use the 2-1/2" shank, but if there's a chance that you'll move to a vehicle with a 2" hitch or if you'd rather use or have a 2-1/2"-to-2" reducer like the BTBRV Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BTBRV64FR, then the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37140ET is the way to go. Instead of just a shank, this is the full weight distribution system with the shank included, so you can go that route in lieu of the # EQ37141ET .

I agree with Jerry! Get the shank that matches your 2.5” receiver rather than using an adapter to neck it down to the 2” shank. You’ll get less “play” at the receiver/shank interface that way. The Equalizer 14k unit is a beast and works extremely well. It both distributes the weight (use CAT scale visits to verify your load balancing across both vehicle axles and your camper axles) and controls sway. I pull a 33ft long 8000lb GVWR camper with a 2014 Lincoln Navigator L 4x4 and I have been able to dial in my front axle weight restoration within 20lbs of my unloaded axle weight with that Equalizer WDH. The assembly pulls like it’s on rails!
