Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For a 2024 Grand Design Momentum 25G Toy Hauler
Updated 06/17/2024 | Published 06/10/2024 >
Question:
I am in the process of purchasing a 2024 Grand Design momentum 25G toy hauler travel trailer. The advertised hitch weight is 1150. In my experience trailer manufacturers tend to underestimate hitch weight. The dry weight of the trailer is 7900 pounds. The GVWR is 13000. Which Equalizer WD hitch do you recommend? I will be pulling it with a GMC 3/4 ton Duramax / Allison Thanks, Rick

Great Question Rick. While I would not say manufacturers underestimate tongue weight the issue is they give you the dry tongue weight before the RV dealer fills any propane tanks and adds any batteries. This is why the tongue weight quickly increases by around 100lbs or more. I recommend using the 16K Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ64FR for your 2024 Grand Design Momentum 25G. This is rated for a tongue weight of 1,200-1,600lbs so once the dealer adds the propane and battery you will be in the range for. Do note this hitch does have a 2-1/2" shank so you will need to ensure you have one on your GMC Sierra 2500HD. This is the most common size found but depending on the age and options your truck has it may only have a 2" receiver.
