Question:
Ive got the blue ox sway pro system and recently purchased a new, larger travel trailer. I am towing with a 2023 Silverado, max trailer weight 9300lbs. Im pulling a 28foot rig that has a dry weight of 5800. I hooked this up yesterday and towed it from the dealer to my house, about 40 miles. The drivec was uncomfortable at best as I noticed what felt like my truck was not in control. hard to explain Ive got the bars with 2 dots/notches that are rated for 750lbs, the hitch weight is 650lbs. Any thoughts on why I didnt feel in control of the trailer?

Hello Jon,
Congrats on the new travel trailer!
With the trailer being brand new and not yet loaded, it can cause many of the issues you're describing. When fully loaded, your trailer's tongue weight should be 10–15% of the total trailer weight. Once you get everything loaded, the weight distributed properly, and your Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1000 system dialed in, that “out of control” feeling should disappear.
We actually had a vendor visit not long ago with a driving simulator for a training class. It was a great demonstration of how unstable a rig can become when the tongue weight is off. The company is Weigh Safe, and they offer some really cool ball mounts with built-in scales like the Weigh Safe Hitch w/ Built-In Scale for 2" Hitch, 4" Drop/5" Rise, 12.5K, Cerakote # WS88VR, which allow you to monitor tongue weight easily. If your tongue weight is off, you’ll know it’s time to adjust your trailer load for the smoothest ride possible.
If you don’t want to replace your ball mount, another great option is the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale w/ Storage Bag for Trailers - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV44FR. This standalone scale helps ensure your cargo is distributed correctly without needing any hardware changes.
After you get things loaded up the right way, get your Blue Ox Sway Pro dialed in just right for the new camper and take it for a test spin, let me know how it handles.
Got your first trip planned with the new camper? If so, where are you headed to break it in?

Hey Jon, How did it go after you loaded up your trailer and adjusted the Blue Ox SwayPro? Did it help with that "out of control" feeling? I'm asking because your experience could really help others who are setting up their new trailers.
