Question:

Hello. A few years ago, I purchased a Reese WD system RP66020 and am thrilled with the system. Im looking at a new travel trailer Rockwood Mini Lite 2515S that has a tongue weighs around 900 lbs. I see on the Reese website that they have a similar system to mine but higher capacities 66093. Does Etrailer have this model or something similar to it?

Hi John,

Reese went out of business earlier this year, so any Reese products we carry are the last of our stock and we no longer have the Reese 66093. I did some research and it looks like the GVWR of a 2025 or 2026 Rockwood Mini Lite 2515S is 7,681lbs, that would give you a tongue weight just shy of 800lbs. Since we no longer have the Reese 66093, I recommend using the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Hitch part # BXW1006. It is rated for 10K or 100lbs tongue weight, so it can easily handle the weight of the trailer loaded and more if it gets slightly overloaded. The SwayPro has clamp on rotating chain brackets that hold tension without any noise, as well as sway control to not only distribute the weight but keep the trailer steady behind your tow vehicle.

What feature of your Reese # RP66020 hitch did you like the most that you want for your new weight distribution hitch?

Thank you Claire! I like the Reese system for two reasons..it worked well and kept my truck and trailer level. The other reason is I was really familiar with the system. I had it installed at a dealer and they didn't know how to install the dual cams. Before the camping season started I went through the videos and installation manuals and really learned about the system. If we buy the new trailer I'll probably be ordering the Blue Ox you recommend. In your (and colleagues) opinion, is the Blue Ox a good and easy to use system? Or is there a better alternative? I really don't want to be rolling over down a mountain engulfed in flames! -John

@JohnD We certainly don't want that! The Blue Ox SwayPro part # BXW1006 has rotating brackets that clamp on (no drilling necessary) and let you slip the chain into the slot and lock it in with very little effort. The hitch head is preset with the correct pitch, so you only need to adjust the shank to match your towing set up's height. Usually takes less than an hour to set up and can be done by just one person. The adjustable shank is great too because you can change the height to fit other trailers that fall within this hitch's weight range. All that to say that this Blue Ox SwayPro is an excellent system and easy to set up. Blue Ox has a great reputation for a reason and its because their products perform amazingly well!

@JohnD It will come with everything you need to get it set up! The rotating latches, spring bars, chains, pin and clip, hitch ball, hitch head assembly, and adjustable shank with the hex head bolts to raise/lower the hitch head.
