Is Side-to-Side Movement Normal for a Hollywood Destination 2 Bike Rack?

Question:
Hello, New to the bike rack world. We have a Hollywood destination 2 bike rack that when we secure the pin it still wobbles side to side. Is this normal? If not how can we fix it? It’s on a Chevy Tahoe 2022

Hi Taylor,
Welcome to the bike rack world! A little movement is normal with most hitch mounted bike racks, but the Hollywood Destination 2 part # HLY94FR is designed with an anti rattle hitch pin, so it shouldn't have excessive side to side play once it's installed correctly.
The first thing I'd check is that the threaded anti rattle hitch pin was tightened down securely with the included wrench or a 3/4 inch or 19 mm socket before installing the lock. Simply putting the lock on the end doesn't tighten the rack. The threaded pin needs to be snugged down first so it pulls the hitch tube tightly against the inside of the receiver.
I also wanted to make sure you have the aluminum spacer block installed if you're using the rack in your Tahoe's 2 inch receiver. That spacer is important because it allows the rack to fit the larger receiver properly.
One other question that will help narrow it down is where the movement is coming from. Is the hitch tube moving inside the receiver, or is the movement coming from the bike rack itself at one of the pivot points? That will help me determine whether everything is installed correctly or if there's something else we should look at.
Out of curiosity, what bikes are you carrying, any e bikes or heavy bikes?

Are you using the supplied aluminum 2" hitch adapter block. I found the block design is a touch small for my reciever, so I used a different one that seemed to fit better and cranked it down very tight.
