Easy to Use Lightweight Bike Rack for 2026 Honda CR-V

Question:
Hi, I have purchased from you before and been very pleased with the customer service. We are getting a new car and a bike hitch is a priority. I am looking at the Honda CR-V. Is there a hitch-mounted rack that is easy to get on and off the hitch? I am mechanically incompetent, so it really needs to be easy to get on and off and then fairly easy to get the bikes on. I also have a bad back, so am looking for something that does not weigh a ton. Any suggestions for a hitch-mounted rack for the Honda CR-V? Thanks, Patrick

Hey Patrick! It sounds like the biggest piece here will be the weight of the rack. A lightweight bike rack will make it easy to get on and off the hitch, and will be easy on your back. I recommend the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # HLY94FR.
This is incredibly light weighing only 20 lbs so it is super easy to manage. It has a capacity of 35 lbs per bike, and uses rotating clamps so it can attach to any frame style. Do you already have a hitch on the CR-V? This works with a 2" or 1-1/4" receiver so one way or another it will be compatible.
What kind of bikes do you have?

I’ve used the bike rack a couple years now. Im currently biking in Vermont. I really like how the rack tightens to the hitch receiver with the threaded through bolt / Pin. It keeps the rack from rocking in the receiver making it much steadier than my old rack. I would highly recommend this rack. Light weight and easy to use & install.

I put one on my daughter’s Nissan rogue. Not only did I have to put the bike rack on, but I also had to put the tow hitch on as well. After an hour or more of struggling with the hitch doing it myself, ( They recommend two or more people install it), the bike rack was a breeze, like hooking up a trailer. I found two minor problems with the rack once installed. It had to be tilted slightly outward when in the up position in order to open the hatch. Key word slightly, not a deal a breaker. The biggest issue was the vehicle itself. With the rack installed, the automatic rear collision braking had to be disabled, otherwise you couldn’t back up Again not a deal breaker. In my unprofessional opinion. Any problems you have would be solved by having another person available. I installed it myself as a 70 year old overweight cardiac patient.

We've had ours for a couple of years now and really like it. We previously had a Thule for 2 bikes and besides the fact it weighed a lot, the wheel cups would occasionally break at $40 a pop. The Hollywood works great and feel the bikes are safe and secure (which I didn't with the Thule, use a bungee). It's lightweight and well designed. I guess my only wish is that the wheel holders could be adjusted. IE for a shorter or longer bike.

Last summer I bought a Hollywood Destination bike rack. It fits my wife's bike and my bike very easily. We RV'd from New Jersey to Florida and back and had no issues with the bike rack. I recommend it to anyone who has bikes 35 lb or less. Also, it is very easy to mount an unmount.

I purchased the Hollywood Destination Rack for 2 for 2 main reasons - loading my 29er Mountain Bikes was an absolute nightmare on my cheap old frame mount rack, and the old one weighed a ton. This rack is a lot easier to load, since it’s lower to the ground. You won’t be straining your back to get bikes up at all. It took a few minutes to assemble, and once it’s built it’s easy to take on and off.
