Cam I Use an Adapter for Autowbrake # 3430001 on Lexus TX 500h

Updated 07/22/2026 | Published 07/18/2026

Question:

Before purchasing the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller - Trailer Mount w/ Remote Fob I just want to verify. I have a new 2026 Lexus TX 500h F Sport 2 with the tow package. It does not come with a 7 pin tow connector only a 4 pin. I am assuming this doesn’t matter because this unit is activating the brakes on the trailer and as long as it gets a braking signal from my 4 pin it does the rest? I am installing this on a Tear trailer but my trailer has a 7 pin. Do you have an adapter that I can still connect my trailer 7 pin to my tow vehicles 4 pin?

Hey Jeff!

Your thinking is mostly correct. The Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller # 3430001 mounts on the trailer and uses your vehicle's brake light signal from the 4-way to know when you're braking. However, it also needs a constant 12-volt power source, which a standard 4-way connector does not provide.

To use the Autowbrake with your 2026 Lexus TX 500h, you'll need to upgrade your vehicle to a functional 7-way connector. The easiest way to do that is with the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L, which plugs into your existing 4-way and only requires running the included 12V power wire to your vehicle's battery. This provides the auxiliary power the Autowbrake needs while still using your existing brake light signal.

Once installed, you'll be able to plug your trailer's 7-way connector directly into the new 7-way on your Lexus—no additional adapter will be needed.

What kind of tear trailer are you working with? I'd be happy to make sure you have everything you'll need to get it connected and working properly.
