Updated 07/11/2026 | Published 07/06/2026

Question:

Does this item come with the drums/hubs? 7 - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs Part Number: AKEBRK-2 Also, my axle takes the L44643 Inner/Outer Bearings, 34823 Seal. Is this compatible with the above brake kit? Thank you.

Hi Mitch, the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes, Part # AKEBRK-2, do not include the hubs and drums. This kit only comes with the left and right brake assemblies, so you'll need to purchase the hub and drum assemblies separately.

Based on the bearing and seal numbers you provided, with L44643 inner and outer bearings and a 34823 grease seal, those are compatible with 7 inch brake assemblies for a 2,000 pound axle. If your axle uses a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, I recommend Part # AKHD-545-2-1K It comes pre-greased with the L44643 bearings, L44610 races, 34823 grease seal, grease cap, lug nuts, and all of the hardware needed for installation, so it makes the job much simpler.

The only thing I'd recommend double checking is your wheel bolt pattern before ordering. You can actually measure a 5 lug bolt pattern a couple of different ways. I attached a picture that shows how to measure across the center of the wheel, but you can also measure from the center of one wheel stud to the center of the adjacent stud. If that measurement is 2-5/8 inches, you have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, which is exactly what the AKHD-545-2-1K uses.

Just out of curiosity, what do you usually tow with your trailer, a boat, a camper, or something else?

I have the 12" 4 lug wheels. Center to center on studs looks like 2 3/4"

@MitchH Thanks for clarifying Mitch. We don't have any hub and drums that have the 34823 seal with the L44643 Inner/Outer Bearings with a 4 on 4 bolt pattern. The closest option we have is part # 8-173-16UC3 but that has a 10-9 seal that measures 1.500 inner diameter. Just curious, when you were figuring out which bearings and seals you needed, did you measure the inner diameter? I only ask because that combination is rare for a 4 on 4 bolt pattern hub.

@HeatherA The bearing and seal numbers are what's on this axle. I also goofed on my bolt pattern. I measured from 1 to the next, not across. My trailer is an old 1984 Hayes tilt/dump utility trailer which was sold as a kit at the time. I can't find ANY info on it.

@Mitch That's ok, but you have 4 lugs? We do carry the CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly w/ Carrying Case for 2,500-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Pre-Greased Part # CE13110 which is the exact match as an idler hub but we currently do not carry an option for hub and drum. Are you looking to add brakes to the trailer or do you already have them?
