Hey David!

The correct hitch for your 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL will depend whether your vehicle is gas-powered or a plug-in hybrid. For the gas-powered Outlander SEL, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e79ZV. If your Outlander SEL is a plug-in hybrid, you will go with Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13398. Both options will be a direct fit to your vehicle and match up exactly with the factory holes, no drilling required!

You will need a 4-flat connector to tow a trailer or connect to accessory lighting, your selection for a wiring harness will once again depend on whether you have a gas powered or PHEV Outlander. For gas-powered, you will need Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C43WR, which is a plug-and-play wiring harness so install will be incredibly simple. The PHEV model will need Curt Powered Tail Light Converter w/ 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector and Install Kit # C59496. This kit is a splice-in kit, but that install is still pretty simple. It includes quick-splice connectors, but I recommend using Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Blue - Qty 10 # DW05744-10 for a better, more secure connection. To clean this installation up and give your 4-way connector a place to sit when not in use, you will need Curt Mounting Bracket for 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C42CR as well as Curt No-Drill Bracket for 6-Way or 7-Way Round Trailer Connector Mounting Bracket - Long # C57202.

How are you planning on using this hitch, for cargo and accessories or for towing a trailer?
